I recovered my rack and had some left over carpet and plywood. So, I attached it to the side with removable hinges, to make a laptop table.

I LOVE IT!!!!

Now if I can figure out how to get the pic off my phone and onto my computer, you get to see it too.

Edit:

OK. That was way too easy, too. Thanks Photobucket!

looks great
but do you TRUST it?

just seems like your expensive laptop is dangling in mid-air?

I've been playing around with that idea for a while. But I haven't figured out how to do the "table" part sturdy/reliable. My goal is to use it for a monitor on one side of the case (for audiences to see video/announcements and/or karaoke words) and on the other side I just want to use a small "mouse table/pad"

It looks *pretty* sturdy - I can see where you butted it up with the wooden supports from underneath - but If I were you, I'd consider some sort of up-swinging wooden arm/bracket or something that would attach from rack to shelf or swing from the shelf down to latch onto the rack to provide support from at least midway out on the shelf (closer to the edge the better) to the rack case itself.

All it takes is someone coming up and leaning on the edge of that shelf to spell trouble... but that looks SLICK man!

I have two shelf supports under there. It is attached with detachable hinges.
