This is what REAL LIFE looks like most of the time, even in otherwise well-off middle-class communities.

If I was asked to do one of those dances I probably would, even for free.
It's just good policy to be active and part of community if we expect to be recognized, appreciated, and our business patronized.
My wife is a Rotarian. The founder of the local chapter owns a $200M+ business. He also puts forth more volunteer hours and donations than any other member of the chapter (and by a large margin). In other words, he's a great guy. They recently held a fundraiser that generated over $100K for a local charity at one of his venues. The admission price was $75 per person which is barely broke even at this venue. The fundraising came from the silent and live auctions which raised on average approximately $500 per attendee. Two of the live auction items were parties (with catering) for up to 30 people at a venue of his. He wanted to sweeten up the parties so he asked me to donate my karaoke services and a comedian to donate his act. I was happy to agree to this. At some future time, I will be a free KJ working at an upscale country club. And, I'll do a better job than 90% (or more) of the local KJs.

Tunes4046 if that's your competition then you are robbing people charging what you do. LOL. Don't get upset just having fun with you ☺️
