I think that good sound and no critics can be done with every gear if we are normal and dont push too loud.
Scott, Papa and others,
Since the L1/B1 system works for your businesses, that's what matters. No one's trying to tell you different. And I think we all know that there is no honest comparison between a line array system (L1) and a conventional PA system. The L1/B1 system has a distinct advantage of doing the processing for the operator.
From what I can gather, the rest of us aren't Bose haters. Our business equipment works for our requirements. No matter which side of the debate one is on, one will find a majority in the mobile DJ biz who believe that the L1/B1 system is overpriced for what it is and what it can do.
That's not to say that the L1/B1 system won't hold its own for upscale, indoor shows. It does. Many owners of the system have proven this. I'm just sayin' that a conventional PA that's built and set up correctly can do what the L1/B1 does and more for less cost.
If a DJ company has to load an 18" sub box and amp to accompany the L1 system at a larger show, the weight saving becomes moot and the cost becomes apparent. If you're booked to run sound at a large, outdoor show and have to leave the L1/B1 system at home in favor of a headroom-heavy FOH rig, the L1/B1 is idle and isn't paying for itself.
This is just Wolfie talkin' here. If I spend 5 grand plus for a business sound system, it had better be able to shake the dust out of the rafters and push the curtains out of the windows... and offer a sweet tone at lower volume at the same time. We have been doing just that with our conventional system for years. It goes out every time we're booked to do a show, large and small. We didn't pay 5 Gs for it.![]()
Scott,
I do not believe I have ever jumped into a Bose thread saying they were a scam and toys without a detailed explaination as to what my opinion was based upon.
I have owned and tested the Bose against a conventional speaker system and found it lacking both in power output and frequency response!
I have compared weight v power v coverage!
I have compared price V power/coverage!
I have compared simplicity V price/coverage!
I am truly sorry that you mistake my opinion and testing facts as a diss to the Bose system, it is just opinion and fact nothing more.
The truth is that myself and many others have stated more than once that coverage v price can be accomplished at a much higher level with a conventional system than can be done with the Bose.
I am certainly happy for all the Bose owners who truly believe that they have the magic stick, I personally didn't feel that way about my purchase of it and was truly grateful for the Bose return policy!
Now while I won't jump into anymore Bose threads where the thread starter is discussing how great Bose is, however this thread was started by someone who heard and was not impressed by the Bose stick, so to be fair let's just say that when someone has a low opinion of Bose than those who think they own the magic stick should also refrain from posting on these threads. Such as this thread where the idea of the starter was that Bose didn't come up to the hype that he had heard!
Does that make it fair for you?
Chuck,
Actually what is being discussed right now has not been "hased out before", the discussion now is in terms of this being a personal issue which for me it is not but from what has been written, Scott believes it to be so. However I never said or intended any of my post on the subject to be taken as a personal diss on anyone's choice to purchase or use the Bose system or on their mental capabilites of the sell!
So I would certainly like to see it left open long enough to give Scott a chance to at least have the last word on the subject of why he believes my choice of words is to offend the users of Bose! If I haven't changed his opinion on my position being the disposition of the L1 and not the owners intelligence in the purchase thereof, I would at least like him to have the chance to state it.
Then if you want the thread closed I certainly don't have a problem with it!

Wow a Bose thread that ends nice

Not on my watch...Fah Cue Bozo ners!!!!![]()
Well... Fork U2 and the you know where you can stick your speaker stand too.....
hahahahahahahahaha

Indeed. And it speaks volumes for the caliber of our members and staff.Wow a Bose thread that ends nice.....I love this place![]()

yeah, Thunder, well that might all be true but you have never heard MY new MEGA PAS SYSTEM:Scott,
I got the term "Magic stick" from another thread where the poster was a Proud Bose owner and user and the term "Magic Stick" was his not mine. So it certainly doesn't belong to me and was used to express the opinion of a Bose owner/user.
As for "Toy" yes that was all mine, scam wasn't mine so I can't take credit for that one. And truth be told I also "fell for it" in the beginning, but felt just as with any other purchase that testing was due course. Again I have stated over and over again that the Bose Sticks were excellent for what they were origonally designed for!
Have you ever read my opinions on Peavey, JBL and Mackie powered speakers? If you have you would notice that I don't give any of them any slack either! I still own a pair of the Impulse powered speakers and to be honest with you I would never take them out for a paying gig of any type, but I do use them in the studio as FOH monitors when listen to playback of recordings.
Gemini speakers and boards got my honest opinion as well as Rane and American Audio, I don't offer opinions on things I have not used and or tested. I recently offered my opinion on the EV ZX1s which I purchased and was disappointed in,
I am going to replace the Peavey Powered Impulse units in the studio with the ZX1s because the smaller size and lesser output make them more compatible with the small space of my studio.
