Shiney new Super 55

THAT'S SHARP....have always loved those classic mics.

In my opinion....YES the beta version is really that much better...Almost all of my live sound mic's are Betas

I have a wired SM58 and a wireless Beta58. Both are good mics. The Beta is much better for what I do which is sing. The Beta has brighter midrange and highs, less proximity effect which can make vocals a bit muddy if the lips are too close to the ball and most important, the Beta is a super cardioid element which is less prone to feedback at high volume levels.

The Beta is also a more sensitive (hotter) mic which can be helpful if someone has a less powerful voice like myself. At retail the difference between a wired SM58 and a Beta 58 is like $59 and even in my cheapa$$ opinion it's worth the extra few dollars. I haven't used the Elvis type that you got, but I love the way they look. I almost never put my mic in a stand so the Super 55 is not good for me personally. I sing for 3 to 4 hours at a time so I need something that is easy to hold and light.

I have one too.... you'll love it! It's fantastic with vocals... give a very nice midrange boost but other wise flat response..... heavy sucker too.

I have an original 55 (along with my 1938 RCA 77DX) Love them both.
