Hey guys, what's going on. Well me and my friend has been looking into Rockit Pro 4 and been kinda wondering on a few little minor things about the software. Well she and I wanted to know if it it is easy to map and what all do we need to get that done? Cuz we gotten are controlers and been useing the software with it... since then we have been working at upgrading it but we ran across Rockit and wanted to know more...

So Can we use the hercules RMX midi controler with that software?

How hard is it to Map this software?

Has anyone compaired it with VDJ?

We have not upgrade VDJ yet, and wondering if Rockit is worth it or just pay the $150 for the upgrade?

My advice, is to wait until V4.1 releases later this week(end), as it has a MIDI Learn utility built in -- which makes it fairly easy to map any MIDI device :)

I was supposed to receive an RMX so I could map it, but it never arrived, so it will ship with mappers for the Denon 4500, Numark Total Control and M-Audio XSession Pro.

You would think Rick actually designed the software or something :)

I think at this point, it's apples and oranges.

I don't think Rockit was ever really intended to do some of the things that VDJ does. If you are going to scratch, beatmix, loop, etc, then Rockit may not be the first choice. VDJ also has auto pitch correction which I have not seen in any other software. The down side to VDJ is that it's a system hog.

yeah what gives and damn those hercules people... and a midi map means i can cue individual channels right rick? and can you map the denon hd 2500 too

Hank
pitch correction like "Master Tempo" or pitch correction like the left and right sides line up automatically pitch wise..

Like when I speed up/slow down the song in VDJ, the vocal (pitch) stays in tact.
No chipmunk or Barry White effect.

MIDI has nothing to do with the sound output. You need two sound cards to cue songs up. I use two cards, one goes from deck A on the software, to channel 1 on the mixer, the second goes from deck B, to channel 2 on the mixer. You then cue directly off the mixer, with no latency :)

I don't have a 2500, so I don't have an official mapper for it. Although I sent a template to Jon, so he could work on it, since he has one. Course, he's probably in a detention center somewhere, for crossing the border too many times with contraband :sqlaugh:

You should be able to easily map the 2500 using the MIDI Learn on 4.1 (when I get around to releasing it this week) :D

This issue of talking about VDJ being a hog is true... I have had times where the system lags so bad that I switch over to another computer, or cue my girl to push her set while I let my laptop rest for a bit. I have gone as long as 4 hours till I notice an issue with my Laptop..

As for Christina's laptop she can push about 3 to 4 hours as well, since we stepped up her laptop as well. So that is why we are looking for a program that doesn't draw so much... But she and I really love VDJ!!!

I thought the same thing till Christina started to have the same issues... Could it be that are Laptops need stronger CPUs... I have been looking in to stepping up from my 2.0 ADM to an intel Core 2 Extrem and clocking it to about a 2.8 or so.... would that help?

Christmas is coming early this year...YEA!
(Sad part is, I'm not looking for new features...just that awesome skin!)

I'm running 2 $500 Dell machines with no issues. The Tablet is running an old AMD with 1 gig of ram.

Do you use these machines on the net? Are they load with anti-virus and other apps that are running all the time. You shouldn't have lag issues....

My HP is my workhorse and my Toshiba is my back up... My Toshiba is the one on the internet most... My HP is normally used on a network at the club between two Booths and the Bank in the office for Music, that might be the issue there then..

Rick, will 4.1 have Master tempo and not just pitch control? That's about the only thing that is keeping me from jumping in the deep end and trying this thing out....

V4.2 will have tempo/key lock.

V4.0 actually has it, but it is disabled, because I am not amused by the resource requirements to use it ;)

After 4.1 releases, I will get to work on the decoder, to tweak it the best I can, and enable it. But again, it is always going to be a resource hog, so as with other programs that use it on the fly, your mileage may vary, and the program may crash

The way our decoder works now, the main audio decks, will never go over 5% CPU usage. With tempo on, it runs above 50%, and spikes as high as 90%.

If you enjoy that sort of stability (or lack thereof), you will have fun :D

Folks you heard it here first Rick said this week. Its Hump day woohoo. Are we there yet Rick? I gotta Pee.

I will have to dig up that info you sent Rick. I totally forgot it since I was using Rockit thriugh my laptop making it a back up or using my HD2500 as a backup. I am waiting for the 4.1 to do the mapping. Hopefully brain cells arent required. They removed mine the last trip across the border. Can you spell LOBOTOMY?
