While there are a few Karaoke software programs that now recommend keeping the mp3+G pairs in their own individual unzipped folder (since storage is so cheap), I can't find any ripping software that supports this.

FolderExample.jpgThe top four folders, each of which contains a mp3+cdg pair, is what I'm trying to produce from the CD rip. The software can produce the zipped folders, or just the files in no folder (all of which must be kept in the same directory). The latter works, but IMHO it's much easier to do library management with paired files.

Currently, I rip to zipped folders, and then unzip them, an idiotic process. I've tried AudioGrabber, CDGRip, and SelectATrackBurner - none do this. Anyone?

I have poised the same question over at KaraokeScene, but IMHO the regulars there are lucky they can tie their own shoes.

I think the future is mp4. Not planning to convert, but it seems to be getting stronger each year.

Interesting. I use Virtual DJ and for years used paired (mp3 + cdg) files. About 6 months ago I decided to zip the pairs into a .zip file and let the Virtual DJ worry about the overhead of unzipping at time of play. I have used Power Karaoke (Power Karaoke Software To Burn, Create, Play & Convert Songs - (https://www.powerkaraoke.com/)) to unzip files in the past and also used used it zip my entire karaoke library. I use the KJ File Manager Steve mentioned to tag and rename newly acquired karaoke files. My library is organized in the following structure:
D:\Our Karaoke\<artist name>
<title> - <artist>.zip

So
D:\Our Karaoke\Elvis Presley
Heartbreak Hotel - Elvis Presley.zip
Love Me Tender - Elvis Presley.zip
