Steve, you're forgetting one thing. these guys were in the room and heard the speakers. If they sounded like crap I think they would have said so.

I never said they sounded like crap, I have no doubt that they sound great. I only stated the obvious with regards to physics and bass response at high SPL levels.

Greetings. QSC Factory Guy here.

My name is Justin O'Connor. I am the Product Manager at QSC for the K Series. I have enjoyed following your interest in K Series, as well as the lively debate about PA gear.

I just wanted to post to let everyone know we have offically gone public with the K Series today. Feel free to check out our website for the most up to date information.

Thanks!!

All the specs seem to point to this line being superior to the HPR series and I think the HPR series sounds great. I would love to hear these guys.

The only thing that makes me scratch my head is, if it truly is better than the HPR's, how is it cheaper?

Jon, the HPR series is also Made in China...

I still can't understand how you, as Americans, would want to buy speakers from a US company that has moved it's production off-shore to a country that is helping to kill your economy.

Isn't EV still made in the US? Buy EV! Keep the money in your country!

At least the Germans (Dynacord) and Italians (RCF & FBT) aren't stealing bread off your table by working for free. They charge a proper price for a well made product.

There you did it... You made me get political again! I hate it when I do that...

The K Series is manufactured in the same factory as HPR, GX and RMX.

The difference in cost is due to:

ABS molded enclosure rather than tour grade baltic birch
Self enclosed amp module (means we don't have to build an eztra wood cabinet within the speaker cabinet to hold the amp)
Thinner steel grilles (but still heavy guage)
More common parts bewteen each product in the K Series
Suspension hardware (less hardware due to less weight)

All of it is manufactured in China.

It was designed here in the states by our engineers and manufactured exactly to our specifications. We also do the quality testing and sustaining quality inspections here.

Hey I didnt bring up any comparison only the China Grove connection. The USA will one day be West China mark my words unless a crusade is started. Shoot me for being one of the resistence. I have not so much as once mentioned DROCANYD! Nor in recent times.

Mike,

The Dynacord D8s are passive (powered by the 312PS-powersub), in a composite enclosure and made in Germany.

I was there, and those little boxes sounded amazing. They use some new digital technology to enhance the bass beyond what an 8inch cone can handle...and they are 1000 watts...each! I personally thought the larger boxes got just a tiny bit harsh as they got louder. The series is still in beta and should go public around May or June.

Hi WaydeWest,
When stating "larger boxes got a tiny bit harsh", are you referring to the K10 and K12 in the same series? If so, it sounds like the K8 would be the dream choice from the new QSC line for its ultra lite weight...

The QSC team unveiled the new K Series Speaker for the first time as they debuted this revolutionary speaker at the New Jersey Disc Jockey Network March meeting this past Tuesday evening.
A jammed packed audience was bewildered by this new innovation in loud speaker technology.
All I could say was WOW!
...

Hi Steve,
Have you heard the K10 or K12 as well and if so, how do they sound compared to the K8?

Hi Steve,

Steve and I were at the same demo.
We heard the entire series, each speaker solo, solo with bass enhancement, then with the sub. They all sound great. Everybody is focusing on the K8 because it sounds so amazing for an 8inch speaker.
