Ok so I'm bored and have nothing better to do with my time. So, I've decided to retag my files because as it stands while I can sort by year or genre but not both at the same time I've decided to take the sugestion of a few here and started re-tagging files to better fit my way of searching....

So I've started with Genre's like:

00s Rock
90s Rock
80s Rock
70s Rock
60s Rock
50s Rock

And so forth for other genre's such as Pop, Urban, Hip-Hop etc...

Any other brilliant idea's for Genre's that work.... I wish I could double tag the Genre with two different ones that would best suit me but the software don't allow for it. I can however as I add the music back into my library I could manually drop them into sub-genre's if I wanted to.... but, at least with this if I want some 50s Rock instead of searching for music from the 50s and getting everything from vocal standards to jazz. With this atleast I wont have to wade through everything else when all I wanna do is Rawk...

Thoughts?

What software are you using?

When I retag files I use an older version of Winamp. With that id you wanted to double tag you could type something in to the comments section and your software should pick it up

Traktor Will do all that and more!

Rob, yer like a total anarchist man... :sqlaugh:

Use the base name first, trust me on this one.

Rock 50s
Rock 60s
etc...

The sorting and searching will go faster, no matter what software you are using. If you want the technical explanation, I can give you the N to the Nth routine -- but it actually works faster than I could type it.

Use yer interface :)

Anarchy In Bed Rock....

LOL

Ummm ok that would work too.... I'm not that far into this yet but I see where you're going with putting the Root first followed by the decade.... makes sense.

BTW I'm using Ots AV I would get Rockit too but funds are tight and Ots has served me well to this point.
