As many of you have seen over the last few years, Loud Technologies (parent of Mackie and Tapco) has been spinning off different parts of its business. Today it was EAW. Other recent sell offs include Martin Audio and Ampeg. Earlier sell offs included Alvarez Guitars and they once had Crate amps but shuttered that as well as a couple of others. It will be interesting to see if they can resurrect their former greatness with a more focused company.

Do you think RCF will keep the EAW brand, or is there another asset that RCF might have wanted from the company from a production or technology stand point?

I was at a trade show today talking with some very senior industry insiders. The basic consensus (although this is not confirmed fact) is that Loud's investors are getting impatient that there hasn't hockey stick like company growth. The sale of the ancillary brands is a method to minimize their losses. There wasn't consensus on how long Mackie might be able to continue as is.

If they REALLY wanted to up their game, RCF should have bought Alto ..
