Weddings Question For (Some) Wedding DJs

Me as a dancer first if I hear the song for more then three minutes I start to lose interest, imagine hearing songs for two hours from start to finish. So if you play songs from start to finish, what happens if you play a song and it bombs? I mix in another song as fast as I can and don't have to wait til it's over to play another.

So??? Is there a Restricted Policy for Mixing that is pertinent to only Wedding DJs? Do all Wedding DJs wear Tuxes?

Post 63 is my take on the matter Houston. Mix out of that song and tell me the crowd partying to it will enjoy the fact that the DJ did that.
Those who mix they do it at all their event's no matter if it's a wedding or not. Those that never learned have no choice. ;-)
BTW Cesar have not played that song ever so can't answer that. ;-). I will try it though and I bet they will scream if I play a hit after that.
Mix out of the Cha Cha Slide or the Electric Slide or Shout and tell me that is better then allowing that little dead air moment where the people performing the dance will revell in their happiness by hand clapping and cheering before moving into the next song.
Mix out of the end of the Grease Mega Mix and tell me that is better then hearing all the women in the room singing the end of the song, I could go on but a mixing DJ will never understand because they only have the one mindset they are working with.
Cesar buddy Cha Cha slide and Electric Boogie, I mix in and out of it all the time. Do you really think they need to do the dance for 5 min? Not me When the verse comes in cha cha slide after they go down low, I start my mix with either an old school song or whatever else I think of. Electric Slide I mix in sometimes with Apache Sugar hill, Do you want me to record the reaction of the crowd? Shout would be one of those songs that I would play without mixing many times I follow it up with Twist and shout.
I always mix out of The Cha Cha Slide....Just Dance, Dymamite, DJ's Got Us Falling In Love, International Love all are make for a killer mix out of the Cha Cha Slide...just to name a few....Same with The Electric Slide. Freddy is an incredible DJ who kills it at weddings..He's the man. Each wedding I do nets me 1-2 more just from that wedding

I wish beat-mixing at weddings was the norm here as that would eliminate at least 3/4 of the DJ's in my area, most couldn't beat-mix to save their lives. I beat-mix all Top 40, classic dance tracks, etc. with all other songs like 50's being mixed in on the beat, always on the beat.

LOL......dude relax you have your mind set and I have mine. What works for you will not for me. I am a mixing DJ and if I play something it will get mixed most of the time. Some Genre's I don't mix are the 50's and slow songs, everything else gets mixed.
Believe it or not, playing cha cha slide, apache, Ice Ice baby all the way through, you will not get the same crowd reaction as me mixing in the three. No matter what you say Cesar it won't happen!

You think your mix into Apache will be wilder then my brief pause between the last song I played and before I play Sir Mix A Lot Jump on it when i asked all the guys to grab a napkin off the tables and report to the dance floor for a performance for the Bride?

I did a high school reunion last year that consisted of a LOT of those songs. Their request.You still play dem songs!
