Not sure I understand. You want to add funds to your account instead of simply leaving the credit card linked?
Yes. I used to do the credit card thing, but if you buy 15 tracks, that's 15 separate lines on your bank statement.
I received a $50.00 Google Play gift card and it made the accounting much easier.
I just want to buy another gift card and I can't see a way to sign into your Google Play account, buy one and have it automatically charged to your c.c. and available for future purchases.
I don't believe you can... Otherwise it would be here: https://wallet.google.com/manage/ under payment methods but you can only see your cards and balance no way to add balance. You can buy Google Play cards in 10, 25, 30, 50, and 100 denominations all over the place though from gas stations to walmart.
I have only used Google Play for the free music they give out on occasion (I don't have an Android device). The only places I have a credit card linked are iTunes and Amazon for one off music purchases.
Just add funds to your Google Wallet and pay with that. It's free to transfer from checking. You pay a fee if you use a credit card to add the funds.
I have the Google Wallet debit card and love it. It's a regular Master Card debit. With the wallet app any of your credit/debit cards linked to your Wallet can use tap and pay.

Hmm, I wonder if I can't see that option in Google Wallet because I'm Canadian. "Google Wallet" here is really just your Play Store balance but you can't add to it from a credit card or bank account only gift cards.
In the states Wallet is a full blown payment solution. Similar to PayPal but much slicker though not as bushiness friendly (no invoicing or subscriptions). I can 'attach' money to Gmail via Google Wallet. It's pretty cool.
One of my European clients sometimes pays me via Google Wallet. I'd be surprised that Canada is left out of the loop while Europe is in.

It also acts as an intermediary. If my wallet balance won't cover a transaction I can select any other credit/debit card I have linked to pay.

It's probably regulatory / population based. The UK has like twice the population of Canada so more potential customers generally leads to faster roll outs.
We still don't have half the features touted in Google Now, the new YouTube app that plays while your phone is off doesn't work in Canada yet, Google Domains doesn't work in Canada, and a host of other Google stuff that doesn't work here. I'm actually surprised Play Music works here at all tbh.
Hmmm...sounds easier to just buy a Google Play gift card. Having my checking account info out there really irks me.
As it is, I use a "refillable" Visa card for all my on-line purchases. I keep about $10.00 in it and just add funds to it when needed. If it's ever hacked, they get very little.
There are pre-paid Visa cards that work exactly like a debit card (no credit, maintain a balance, etc) but they have a Visa number you can use for online purchases. They're similar to the $50 cards or whatever that you can get at a gas station but they actually have your name on them and are reloadable. You can't use them for things that require credit/protection though like hotel rooms or putting security on a rental.
I use my actual Visa for most things but I have one of the reloadable ones as well for sites I don't trust but want something from... Ie, if I want to buy a mod for a game that costs money on some sketchy gaming site. I know I have protection from fraud on my actual Visa but I'd rather just not deal with it.
Dunno about in the US but in Canada the main one is https://www.mytitanium.ca/default/ and you can sign-up for them at MoneyMart and then do all of your reloading online so you never need to step foot in a MoneyMart again. (MoneyMart is one of those predatory 'pay-day loan' places but they have some legitimate services like Western Union, MyTitanium cards, etc.)
It's like $2 to reload, and $7 a month in fees only if you have a balance. I keep my balance at exactly 0 when I am not using it so I don't pay fees... Haven't used mine in ages though but it's nice to have as an option.
