Mike,
I certainly wouldn't begin to know what constitutes a good to a great lighting designer. But you seem to know all about our business and what a good vs. average DJ is worth. Or is it that you think you know what they are worth only by what you personally are willing to pay yourself? Seems like the same thing your clients are basing your performance and skill on, "money".
No offense here but you would not be one of my perspective clients. You are not the type of client I'm looking for. If you were in my area, you'd be searching for the many DJ's who offer an average event with the same results at an average price. Nothing wrong with that at all. There is a market for every type of client.
As I said, I know nothing about lighting design. To me it's just someone who hangs up lights and turns them on. Seriously, that's all I know about it. I couldn't begin to figure out how to price them. But then again I have no need for one at this time.
Can I give you some advice? How's that Rick? I don't really have any, I just wanted to correct my grammar.
