If it was a company party, house party, school dance, Etc. where almost anyone can do it (just playing music)
But a wedding is different. I feel there is more planning time & organizational skills involved. If the wedding is a backyard reception, with no formalities...just dancing.....that's different. (show up & play)
But if its a ceremony & reception gig where in order to do it right, there will be a lot of pre-planning & communication with the client beforehand. How do I know the lowballer will actually do all of this? Some DJs just have the client fill out a planning form & the DJ follows it without sittiing down & discussing the pros & cons & checking with the other vendors for their input as well (beforehand)
It's like hiring a guy to do your home remodel, I'm afraid to ask him to price match another, because the lowballer probably uses cheaper material, cuts corners, or hires illegals to do the work.
Asking the better quality person to give you the price of a person with less experience/ a jerry-rigged sound system is an insult.
Price matching when buying a product (TV, toaster, fridge, Etc.) is understandable, but price matching a service, you may wind up with exactly what you pay for.
