Depends on how long the person has been collecting music.
hmm 15 crates of vinyl and around 1500 CDs................. not sure what that would add up to.
Possible, certainly. "Likely," who cares. Since the advent of on-line music thievery, it is definitely more suspicious. How likely is it that a DJ who advertises a music library of 75 000 songs or more has actually paid for all of his/her music?

We have a guy here on Maui that advertises 1,000,000 Karaoke songs and 4,000,000 song titles!
Hummmm,, legal? Me think not!

What do you think is the minimum that a typical DJ who carries at least 75 000 songs to every event in a typical area has to charge to make at least a little bit of profit (I realise that there are many variables--area; number of events/year; size of system; single-op/multi-op--but we are keeping it simple, down to the barest of bare minimums that is still realistic)?
In other words, what price is the lowest threshhold at which you would not suspect the DJ in question to have an illegal music library and/or a lousy sound system?
I'd say on complete average with nothing else considered $100/hr.

To me, this debate is almost as ludicrous as debating what "professional" means.
How many D.J.s claim to be "the best"? Someone has to be lying.
