Great News,

Not seperated, Not Torn Rotator Cuff, By all accounts he says it appears to be a very bad sprain to the shoulder muscles.

He gave me a series of exercises to do I have to stay on the 600 mil Ibu for a while and of course limit my lifting for the next couple of months until it heals completely!

NO SURGERY REQUIRED!

Still a bitch to work with though!

Glad to hear the better news. Heal fast and completely Steve!

Great news. Now we need to teach you how to type so it will be much easier to disagree with me:sqwink:

Steve,
That analgesic I recommended in the earlier post helped me tremendously with my Carpal Tunnel earlier on this year. There are no side effects so that should not be a worry. I healed mine without going to the Doctor. It was diagnosed by a PA at a Clinic. At one time I could not even squeeze a tweezer, it was that painful.

For typing, this is what I use most of the time and it really does work. Its Voice Recognition software. You talk and it types the words for you. http://www.nuance.com/naturallyspeaking/products/preferred.asp

Friday night while setting up for my gig I was lifting a speaker, (speaker pole is at 7 feet) I missed the hole (LOL that doesn't happen often) and the speaker slipped I caught but i was in an awkard position so i caught it wil one hand, as it was coming down my arm twisted, there was a very loud popping sound and my arm became totally useless (right arm). I did my show in extreme pain but made it through and made it home (with a lot of help from the bar staff)! I called the doc yesterday and told him what I had done he told me to take 600 miligrams of Ibruprohen every four hours for the inflamation and called in a presciption of Perks for the pain and told me to keep ice on my shoulder all day yeasday and moist heat today. I have an appointment with him tomorrow!

sorry but since it was over my head height then we can be taken to court for OH&S = Occupational Health And Safety steps in...
I already got fined 1200.00 a few years ago for something like that so now the speakers are set a lot lower and slightly smaller speakers

so now when the Roadies setup they are not permitted to lift above 5feet high....

we have to know all this

thing is that I have done three courses that deal with these rules and regulations

anyway have a read and see what crap we have to put up with

tell me how far you can read on this....

Steve that's great news, now you need to follow the doc's orders to the t and don't rush into getting back tp work by yourself. As we get older (I say this with all the respect in the world) the body takes longer to recover and the body is also prone to more damage if the injury is not allowed to heal properly. Even if you think you're ready give it a little bit more time. Have a speedy recovery and find a good roadie for this recovery time.

You're also taking a very large dose of Ibuprofen per 24/hr, so you may have an upset stomach and if you're using any type of anticoagulant be careful and report any problem to your doctor.

Still can't lift anything even two pounds is difficult and hurts, but I do have full range for motion, I have three shows covered for the next couple of weeks and help on three more, so everything is looking good!

Steve:

Glad it wasn't torn. I did that to my left shoulder over 5 years ago lifting a mixer case holding a rackmount computer. Arm lay limp at my side while performing in pain. Doctor said mild tear, and I did therapy instead of surgery. Patience, my friend.

For rehab Thunder I started by lifting a potato in each hand and holding it straight out to the side for 30 seconds. Then I moved up to a 5 lb potato bag, then a 10lb bag, then 25lbs, 50lbs and i'm up to a 100 lb bag in each hand holding straight out for 30 seconds. Next week i'm going to try it with the potatoes in it.:sqwink::sqlaugh:
