Three years ago I separated my shoulder lifting a speaker. I decided it would be okay so I just kept going as usual for four months. As it turns out I just kept tearing muscle, tendon and ligament until they could no longer hold my shoulder in the socket. After a couple months of treatment and physiotherapy I rehabbed enough to avoid surgery. Unfortunately the damage is now irreversible and the doctor says i'll never be able to lift anything over my head with that arm or throw a fastball again. I have discovered recently though that through proper stretching and training I have almost full movement back.
The moral of this story is see a doctor before it gets any worse. I know you plan on it but keep it iced and rested until you do.

Actually threads like this can teach us all something IMO.
