'Til I die? Hope that's not for a long, long, long time. You never know when it's y'er time to go.
live each day to the fullest, did 2 weddings week of 11/11 , when we were done they were all chatting and I thanked the people shook hands and went to hug the bride, "she said I was da ****" so I guess I did ok,, start back up next wknd 12/2 12/3 , enjoy the holidays guys & gals
On The night of thanksgiving I prepare for Mass Destruction Volume 1. Jay Tea Vegas, Trini Dave and Music Unlimited will throwdown for 1000 kids as production crew. Sound and Lighting Stay tuned. The onslaught continues Saturday with a couple more CHRISTMAS Parties. On through for the remaining 18. I picked up ashort notice for Saturday along with a Sunday the 4th of December. 23 gigs and done with 2 of them.
It all depends on how well you can relate to them. I'm willing to bet that your age was one of many other factors involved. I look at it this way, if an 85 year old professor on campus (his nickname is Doc) can still be hip and cool to a group of college kids, age is only a factor if you make it one.

You guys think you get "the look" at weddings. You should hear some of the comments I hear and see some of the looks I get when the kids come in the club.
They're like - "Whos that old dude in the DJ booth?".... and then of course, when I hit my stride when the bands' last set is done, they're like - "Holy crap! This guy knows his $hit"! It's kind of neat to see the look on their faces when they realize I know what I'm doing. And then of course, when I mess with them on the mic, and make all the girls squeal with delight when I jump into either Cupid Shuffle or The Wobble, or any other line dance that they love, I'll say something to the effect oif - 'God I love my job......ya gotta love it when an old fart can make a young girl squeal"....
But alas.......like my buddy Ty....I too am in the process of shutting down the business and retiring in order to have a little fun before I'm too old to do so.

I am only 38, but plan to do nothing else the rest of my life except DJ...yes I left the board for a bit, but came to realize that there is so much information and experience on here, it is impossible not to learn something every time I log in.
Well, I have come to accept that you and I are just going to be about 180 degrees apart on everything. I can tell you that my wife would NEVER have hired a 50 year old DJ for our wedding, and we were in our 30's when we got married. I have no desire to be hip to college kids. Or high school kids. My wife doesn't even think 50 year old DJs should be doing weddings for people in their 30's, let alone their 20's.

62 this coming Saturday 7th and still able to lift my 150lb JBL Scoops into the van by myself. I drink Non Weenie juice daily! If I did it yesterday and am doing it today, I see no reason why I can't do it tomorrow. I think I am going to trade in my 14Ga speaker cables and use these instead. Socapex Cables, I hear they are very heavy!
These people that say they "know it all" really annoy those of us that actually do!!!!

When confronted with the "old guy" attitude, I explain, "it's easier for and older DJ to rock the entire age range than it is for some newcomer to struggle through older music". My music knowledge starts from 1920 through what came out last week. Most newbies think and oldie is Bust a Move.

46 here, I have had more then one cliet tell me one of the reasons they chose me was because of my older age along with the amout of years I have been in the biz.

During the Everly brothers reunion concert (circa 1980!) someone shouted out and Phil & don agreed that " You never grow old with rock & roll!"
