RIP- My Dad (2011), Sister (2013) and Mum (2017)
From a wedding they have been too before [poll coming]

I have this on my site already and are looking at what others have been saying as well

I need honest opinions from Djs

The poll on my site has been going for 3x months so far
so I will give results to whats been said so far

That my friend is one heck of a good Thread/Post/Poll! I like it! One has to be really objective. The visual will probably remain embedded in one's mind after attending a wedding but the question will always remain (Did they have a good time?) that can only come (IMO) from the entertainment! Kudos to you!:sqwink:

Every wedding I have been to (5 in total) I remember the taking the dress off the bride at the end of the night the most!:sqlaugh:

hahahahahahahaha

You dirty old man! Its a wonder you ain't a DJ in a Titty bar! :sqlaugh:

Food and entertainment. Bad food or entertainment = leave early ;)

I chose food -- although that encompasses drinking too (read - was it an open bar, or cash bar) :)

I've been to quite a few weddings, and honestly don't remember much about the DJs, but I do remember the ones that had good bands...

I can say with all honesty that I don't really recall anything about any of the vendors at any of the weddings I have ever attended. I can recount two songs from the 10 weddings I have attended and I can only tell you about the food at one of them. I have a tendency to hang out with a certain group and we usually entertain ourselves.

young...

unfortunately, I was a DJ since I went to my first wedding (as a guest) so my view is biased.
of course the only thing I am going to pay attention to is the DJ.
so I said FOOD...
because, as a DJ, that is what I think of when I am thinking of what venue I'm gonna playing at.
(...at least I know the food'll be good tonight...)

I remember different aspects from each wedding that I've attended.

There's one wedding for a not-so-close relative where I remember being bored in the church because it was a Greek wedding (long ceremony in a foreign language) and I couldn't see what was going on, if anything. Unfortunately, I don't remember anything else from that reception.

There's another reception for a relative that I attended. They had a small group of close relatives at the ceremony, so we did not attend (I'm still offended by that). I was pretty young but I remember thinking how cheesy their wedding introduction was. It was one of those over-the-top introductions with the MC using a tacky version of a radio announcer voice.

At a wedding in downtown New York City, all I remember was how crappy the club-style NYC DJ was, how loud the music was booming, and bridesmaids puking in the bathroom. However, if it was a great day for them, then that's all that matters. One good thing that came out of that reception: I got drunk for the first time (age 14). :)

I remember another wedding where I got to meet a lot of the J Mac's friends, the bride and groom danced to "Sweet Home Chicago" and the DJ was clueless on music after the big-band era. He spent his time online, desperately trying to download newer music, but knew squat about it. One of his powered speakers lost their bass in the middle of the open dancing, but I think only the J Mac and I noticed.

There was another wedding for one of the J Mac's friends where it was simply a great evening. Blue lighting illuminated the room during dinner (wish they kept it on). I remember that there was not enough food, though, it was still a fun party.

One other couple had a wedding that was very them. That's what the J Mac and I thought anyway. They are a very subdued, more straight-laced couple. The theme color was a pastel green and the ceremony seemed to take forever, but was very emotional. I remember the food the most because it was my first time encountering food stations for a buffet.

There was also a cousin's wedding where it was not the traditional Greek wedding. They held in a garden outside one of the fancy estates in Waltham, MA (Lyman Estate, I think) and a friend of the bride and groom officiated the ceremony. It was short and sweet, which was good, because it was hot outside!

Wow! That's a lot of weddings! Like I said, something different for each wedding. I do remember some of the music, but I've always been a music person. :)

People will remember what they connect with emotionally.

Without emotional connection:
3-6 months later they can tell you if it was a good party. If the food was phenomenal they'll remember it for this long - just like the entertainment, decor and many other things. Not specifics perhaps, but an overall feeling of 'good' or 'bad'.

A year later - they can tell you if it was a good party - but likely, little else.

5 years later - they can tell you if they were there.

With emotional connection that all changes...

On a side note, I can't remember the last time I ate at a wedding. And I certainly don't drink alcohol at a wedding. But again, that's a personal choice.
