Ok well I've been producing my own techno/trance whatever you want to call it due to the tons of sub-genre's. VIA Fruity Loops Studio 7, I want to start performing my songs and i figure i would just use a cd scratcher setup because i don't want to haul around my computer. Basically burn my songs on cd's then use the scratcher/mixer. Now when people perform (just for an example) Tiesto, does he modify the songs as he goes along or does he just change the volumes or what? And is it possible to link filters,flangers,effects to a mixer and modify the song as i go or buy one with them preset in? I read a few things about midi controllers but are those just for computers? Like i said I'm new but i have a HUGE drive/passion for making music and i REALLY want to start performing it. Any help is appreciated, if this confuses you then i'll gladly clarify. Thanks for any help :\

I've decided on purchasing a Pioneer CDJ/M400 Combo i tried it out at guitar center and i love it.
Before you buy from GC check with Ben or Kat at NLFXPro.com I'd be willing to bet they can beat GC priceing and know for sure they can beat anyone on service after the sale.

most "real" DJs as I call them, just don't put their tracks on CD's and go back and forth.... they have their tracks and will play them and will also mess with them according to the crowd.
A lot of guys are using Serato now with their computers...
But if you are just starting out, a basic CD unit might be want you want.
You might want to subscribe to a magazine called DJ Times.... Get stuff for club and re-mix DJs as well as a little for the Mobile Guy.

Honestly that's what i was planning on doing (mixing according to crowd), I love the mixer effects and how many different things you can do with it. Can't wait.
I had the thought of just playing back and forth but i watched my friends sister DJ and that's what she did and to me it was just flat out boring, no feeling what-so-ever. So i'm definitely gonna adjust to the crowd.
