Allright guys....

Here is the little issue that I have. I am looking for something like Rhapsody and Napster to download mp3s and use for work. At my work Texas Country, Hip Hop, Pop, and MainStream Country is in high demand. Does anyone have a clue if there is a P2P or something that can offer me those tracks.

Not to mention also offer a monthly payment or yearly plan so we can have unlimited Downloads.

I saw people use Amazon but I know nuthing about it.

Also I need a site that will let me use the Software that the club use as well... VDJ and Mixmeister!

Any info would be greatly useful guys... Thank you:sqembarrassed:

If your club legaly bought the software that they use, You should be able to grab the disc, And put it on your 'puter...

If not, Buy the software......If you use a cracked version, You will recieve NO support from the developers,Nor will you recieve any updates...

Software developers literally lock themselves in there house, While slaving away
making your software nice and stable, (Not playing guitar, or planning booby traps for would be thieves, or setting up a security system that rivals the white house's..):sqlaugh::sqlaugh::sqlaugh::sqlaugh::sqlaugh:

Purchasing your music will guarantee that you have quality....

Remember, with audio.....Crap in, CRAP out...

Oh why not just go to one of them P2P sites and download all your music for free and then of course find and download a cracked version of your fav software, again for free.

Then you can go out there with all that free stuff and start gigging for beer and burgers all the while undercutting your fellow DJs that put in their dues and purchased all their music, spent their time ripping and/or organizing their libraries into their favorite purchased DJ software or hardware.... who are now sitting at home cause financially they can't compete against a great DJ like those that steal everything and work for peanuts.

Gee, now that was one extreme reply.... and I know that you should know better than to ask about P2P file sharing and other sites that purport to offer free downloads of music and software...

Bottom line buy your music spend the time to convert it and you'll be happier.

Pardon me..... you mean Limewire is frowned upon in this site?!?!?!?:sqwink::sqwink::sqwink::sqwink:

2an.
Rick has condensed it and Rob has explained it. Stealing the music is not the solution. Back when Napster was illegal I downloaded some songs, they took hours (Dial Up) and after playing them they sounded like crap, one was clipped to the max, one had pops, etc., personally it's not worth it.

1- It's illegal
2- It's not ethical
3- Quality sucks
4- Take pride in what you do and be proud to own and have paid for the music.
5- Provide your customers with the best quality available.

95% of the tracks should sound excellent with little to no adjustment to the tone (EQ) controls, the stuff available on P2P 99% of the time sounds like crap.

If you own the originals and rip them properly you will get great sound with no worries about quality (320 CBR) and no worries involving law enforcement or lawsuits ;)

Do the right thing.

Ok I guess I am missunderstood.... I am looking for a site that I can pay for music and get away from all the cracked software and free music.... I am looking for info as what is the BEST Site to get music from that can fill the need I ask for... We at the club is running MixMiester and VDJ... Both software was bought and paid for.... I am just tryin' to get the club away from the P2P crap cuz I am tried of all the junk tracks they have... Let's just say, Since I became the DJ here I have done the fallowing....

New Equipment
Sound Board/Mixer
Amps
Rebuilt Mains and Subs
New EQs and Compressor
Cables and ect.

New Software
MixMiester
VDJ w/DJ Console
Compu Live DMX Lighting control

New DMX Lights and ect.

So I would love for you guys to help me get this joint up to par and in shape...:sqwink:

thanks for the clarification. Im a bit amiss with the venom thrown towards someone versus making efforts to educate in a caring and sharing way. I felt like the question asked was totally missunderstood and DJ 2an didnt deserve the onslaught. Good for you 2an for attempting to legitimize the operation. You are doing a good thing.

Dj 2an.
Thanks for clarifying that for us...We applaud your efforts for getting the club turned around!!

As for music, I would start here: Tmstudios.com

I would be looking at Prime Cuts Weekly. You will get 1 disc a week with
New material.

Many of us on the board are subscribers to Prime Cuts, And are very happy with the service Jim and his crew provide.

2an, I prefer this route, it's a little more involved than just downloading the files,
But...YOU control the quality of the files. 320 CBR, or WAV,

Where on say, Napster, You really don't know what bit rate you will recieve,
some that i have purchased from Napster have been 128, and some were 256 cbr.

128vbr files are just not acceptable to me. As most are 256 CBR, and i'm now re-ripping my entire library to WAV files. And i can tell the difference in quality.

thanks for the clarification. Im a bit amiss with the venom thrown towards someone

Wasn't venom Jon -- just the feeling out process :)

Every board has its own language, or dialect, so to speak. We need to be somewhat on the same page, in order to understand each other.

Except for you folks UP THERE, in the great white north :sqlaugh:

I understand the Bit rate issue... That is what I am fighting right now here at the club....

Not to Mention the club plays allot of Texas County and Underground Hip Hop on nights, witch makes it hard for me. I do have to Rip allot of the Texas Country and the Hip Hop that isn't mainstream. So I am still doing allot of late night week nights at the club settin' for the weekend.....

I have looked at Amazon and Walmart but still on the iffy note if I am going that way or not...

Haahahah don't for get us boys down here in the SOUTH!!! we good ol'boys sumtimes don't catch everything! :sqwink:

My apologizes for misunderstanding your initial inquiry... it did sound as if you were looking for P2P file sharing sites and that just sets the hackles on my neck on end. A question like that just reaks of piracy.

Anyway....

iTunes
Amazon
Wal-Mart
Rhapsody

Other than those I can't think of any legit sources. I did check out Sue's link and that one seems a bit iffy to me.... I fear that, that site although it's a pay site is a thinly veiled P2P.... I could be wrong but as I understand record pools aren't necessarily legal even if you pay a monthly to be a member there is no proof that the fee goes to pay licensing of the product made available.
