I think the prices will drop more radically in the next year.......500GB is nothing to sneeze at, but most will need at least 1TB or better to be useful. When those get under $200, then you'll have something. Consider that at 5TB platter drive is less than $200 these days, not really a "great" deal. There will be a point were flash will supersede platter drives, but that will most likely be 4-5 years out. If 500GB works for your needs in terms of space used and free space, than its an "OK" price IMO, but I would wait for something at least 750 or bigger for that price point.....IMO.

That's a great price it'd be nice if I could snatch it up but my car had other plans for my wallet.

I have a 256 GB SDD in my main desktop. It's a little constrained space wise but I bought it planning on throwing in a 1 or 2 TB regular disc down the road. That hasn't happened yet. For now, I use selective sync on Dropbox to keep the bigger files in the cloud and just download them as needed.

When I get a little funds together I plan on putting a 512 GB SDD in my ThinkPad and getting the CD Drive conversion kit (http://www.amazon.com/Generic-Drive...423949313&sr=1-1&keywords=thinkpad+e531+caddy) to stick a second regular old HD in there. Eventually this will become my main rig.
