got my second wedding scheduled! First one went alright,,,,learned a lot, and made a little money! Did the first one with a wedding planner (to get in with her). Got a second gig with NO wedding planner. I am about to get together with my customer. Does anyone have a formal questionair on soft copy? A questionair about timeline and special song choices,,,,how many specials,,,, and so forth

How about a simple contract also, I am now working off of word of mouth and the honor system,,,, haven't had any problems yet...... But I have been thinking about being a little more legal.

Because no 2 businesses are alike, it's best to see a business lawyer for your contract. It needs to be someone that understands what you are trying to do, will protect your interests and will defend what is in writing. 'Simple' contract templates can be found online - but these do very little to protect you or your business.

I do have a generic work sheet that I keep posted on my web site for customers (called CCDVS Worksheet). You can find it at the bottom of this page:

Copper Collar DJ and VJ Services

I don't keep my agreement form there as it is something I like to discuss with them in person as all the legal-ease can tend to put people off in this neck of the woods. I understand south of the border that folks are a little more understanding of legal jargon than up here as law suits are a little more prevalent there...

I have a wedding planner form I use. It has details such as the different songs they want for what part of the wedding such as the garter toss, first dance song and so on. Also in it is a section for the style or styles of music they want. Also to give a list of must plays and DNP. Just around 10-20 songs if they like. There are other things in it as well. The big thing is to get a contract drawn up asap. That's so you protect both you and the client you're working for. Hope all goes well with this 2nd wedding. Mainly get the contract in place. It will help you look more professional along with a wedding planner form. It helps to see that it looks like you're well organized. Those 2 things can carry you a long way.

With a WeDJ.com plus Gigbuilder you get some basic planning tools your clients can use online and other forms like a simple contract that can be modified to suit you and the laws of your state.
I left GigBuilder a few months ago for DJ Event Planner. The change over was hectic, but I like it much better.
