I did a 60th High School Reunion yesterday .. nothing special .. 100 people, mostly slower, older songs (lots of Sinatra, Bennett, along with 50s/60s soft rock. They were so busy talking with each other that we only did some dancing for the last 30 minutes .. mostly 50s rock and Disco.
But the real fun was using the new subs for their first gig .. and the Rane made its debut as well.
The subs were great (Yamaha DXS12). Fairly compact .. nice extension (especially with the extend switch set). Those plus the K&M poles made a nice looking (IMO) setup with my JBL PRX612 tops, though I would still like to get a smaller set for small gigs (8s or 10s). There was no chuffing from the subs, just honest low bass. They won't work for a prom, but they were worth the $600 a piece I paid. As were the K&M poles. The expanding mandrel on each end really snugged up .. no wobble.
As to the Rane, sonically excellent, phenomenal capabilities .. however, I had issues getting it to work with simple music apps (iTunes, JustKaraoke 2) and that may be an issue. Seems it only works with ASIO USB drivers and the simple apps don't have them. SO ... unless I move immediately to VDJ for Karaoke, I either need to use a 2nd USB soundcard (I had a Presonus USB AudioBox in the case) or switch to a different setup. I got it for a great price so I will recover my costs ... really want to stay with it .. time will tell.
