I've got two pairs of the Technics 1200's, a set of Pioneer 1500's and a pair of Sony 700's. I love the Technics as they are heavier which does not bother me at all.

They may reprodouce it but you won't hear it the range of Human hearing is 20-20,000 even someone on the fringe would be not much higher or lower than that

I've had $300 phones and I've had $20.00 phones and for the $280 for the difference I hear I don't ever see spending the money on the expensive ones again. I currently have a pair of Sony and JVC phones I use at work andd them together you wouldn't hit $100 bucks

It's more like HOW they reproduce it, than the actually frequency range, IMHO.

It's like comparing a Mackie in a plastic box, with a set of Wharfdales or Focals in hardwood.

For DJ work, if I needed them, I would use the cheapy earbuds. I almost never use headphones when DJ'ing -- they just mess up my hair, and I already know the music.

If you ever get a chance, try out the Grados for home use. I haven't heard the model I posted above, but I've listened to some of the lower end models (under $1,000). The sound is pretty much equivalent to a decent set of hardwood speakers.

I use half of a busted pair of el-cheapo's...

Because I don't use them every waking moment at a gig...

Because the best sounding headphones wouldn't last very long on the road....

Also because I work in radio,
where 90% of my co-workers have hearing problems from wearing cans too often, and playing them too loud.

Sorry, didn't mean to pee in your Cheerios.

We've got a pair of Sony headphones and are quite happy with them...not too expensive either.

And in Vegas, Anna won a pair of these (I think this is the exact model) from Steve Sharp and the Hercules Crew. We'll be putting them into service next month, they're more comfortable than our Sony's.

These are used all the time and are now on their sixth year. My first pair (Same style and Model) lasted 7 years before I mistakenly sat on it. They have a boom Mic and that makes for making announcements hands free at a moments notice.

I had the Technics RP-DH1200's. Frickin' LOVED them! I want more!

I found out last year sometime that these were a discontinued item.

I'll up you back one :)

Haven't heard these, but I'm told they are some of the best, by people that use them.

For that much money they should be the Fing best damn sounding headphones ever! I didn't pay that much for both my 2 powered tops. I bought a pair of Shure headphones for around $60.00 and I love them! They sound awesome! The one issue some will have is the wires leading to the ear cups are thin.

I don't use headphones for DJ work. The Grados are audiophile stuff.

No disrespect, but my speaker cables probably cost more than your tops. They're over an inch thick. I have a few grand invested in cables.

Just the way I roll :)

SO .. you are one of those suckers, I mean customers, of the magic speaker and interconnect cable companies.

Big difference Steve.

The speaker cables are your weakest point -- so I tested many, in a closed listening room. The Chink cables I got, are the best I've heard so far. There's a big tonal difference from the cheapy cables.

This assumes that you have a good chain, from start to finish.

Try it -- you might find it interesting, and put on Wish You Were Here -- I will expect you will find a noticeable difference.
