You don't have to hear it you can see it. Look at the same song in waveform ripped @ 128 and @320 the difference is obvious

Truly by the time the average person turns 30 they most likely don't have the hearing to tell the difference and most under 30 are so used to shitty audio from YouTube ripped files it will sound great anyway

I always tell the story about the time I played at this hall I hadn't been to before. It's about 100 miles from home and I didn't do a site survey so I brought enough to play a very large venue just in case. I was running almost 4k in there and they kept telling me to turn it up.

I went to the bar across the street afterwards to have a brew with some of the wedding folks and the DJ there was screeching midrange and high hardly any bass at all. That was when I figured out why they didn't find me loud

It's all in what you're used to

I don't believe anyone is saying there isn't a difference.

I believe most are saying... in the scope of how music is used for DJing purposes, people simply cannot tell the difference between the vast majority of mp3's as to what bit rate it's ripped at..or what type of file was used.
Yes a song can be ripped poorly...just as it can be recorded on a CDR poorly....or even recorded poorly on a master.

Equipment can be poor. EQ can be poor. Volume can be inappropriate. So many things in the sound chain. Extremely difficult to put blame on bit rate as a guest if they notice anything at all.
