A guy I know.
No.
He is a blind, deaf, mute, double amputee ballroom dancer.
I have learned that the crowd simply wants quality sound. And they certainly don't want booming 18" woofers.
I appreciate that your experience may be that most can't configure and properly program a system to eliminate unwanted noise and output...that is unfortunate.
I used to carry 18", dual 18's, dual 15's... For my weddings, less is more. So, two 10's (actually four 10's) work perfectly.
...and neither you nor your audiences will ever know how much better it could have been with a
more than less improvement in equipment capacity. To each his own, a/k/a YMMV.
You don't have to drive 120 mph just because your vehicle can...but it's nice to know you could if warranted or necessary.
It's all about your crowd...
At wedding, I perform for audiences, not crowds, but I certainly have and do perform for crowds (most recently this past Monday, as a matter of fact) and appreciate the difference.
My systems and configurations deliver programs that generate compliments and praise...and frequently enough to confirm my practices.
and because I am 99.9% weddings, the Bose has MANY advantages over traditional boxes.
"To each his own"...and everything in its time and place.
To asuage any accusation of prejudice against Bose, I have personally owned and event tested Bose L1 and F1 rigs and I own and use (when appropriate) 2 Bose compacts.
I returned the L1 & F1 rigs.
For personal, potentially small PA use, I am considering a pair of S1s... everything in its time and place.
