Is that a serious question or were you just joking?

If you are serious, (that makes on of us :triwink:) I would be on the look out for the Stanton Police because they now have just cause to inflict bodily harm upon you.

If you desire reliable, quality, pro grade gear, Stanton is Eons (not the active speaks from JBL) ahead of that other gear you are discussing.

If it works in a Club I see no reason why it won't work elsewhere. Its a great bang for the Buck.
Get one of these (See link below) and Voila you have a DJ Mic and headset all in one. Mine sound great coming through the system. we currently use a Behringer mixer and Behringer tops without any issue, but this whole process we are doing is all about upgrading, so you answered my question Rox
 
Patrick you better listen to that expert from New Brunswick who knows the real deal. Yo Steve Le you ought to advise him to build one as it would be much cheaper aint nuttin a few rolls of Duct Tape wont fix.:triwink::tritongue::tricool:
 
JT, I get the weight issue, and that is something we have to consider. The problem is we are trying to load in and out as little as possible, and we are trying to dump having to use a table. I just don't see anything else out there that can accomplish this beside that rolling rack.

It is nice to be able to tell the venue "I am self contained, you don't have to provide me with a table!" You also don't have to worry about bringing a table of your own and matching linens etc!

Too bad that wasn't considered when you first purchased your gear. The first thing I eliminated for space/weight were the amplifiers. They're great for large events, but not necessary for weddings and the standard fare. Next, I eliminated the need for a table and a facade by making my own case. Most DJ boxes are industrial looking towers that need to be hidden behind a faced. Now I have a simple keyboard stand and a linen.

One trip in and out with my folding cart and that's it. Occasionally I'll bring more speakers or a ceremony rig, but it still isn't an effort or a back strain. It's all about planning or adjusting as you go.

Patrick - Ben sells the R $ R 12 with a table accessorty; the cart is the tble. Strap your ampcase on the bottom; the slant case with your mixer/laptop case sits above. Buy that 100+pound rack; you'll be cursing at yourself in the near future.

As far as a mixer; look at the Denon X-500....

That's actually a Mackie mixer. I have a Behringer on my ceremony rig.

I have that same rack unit. I love it even if it is a tiny bit heavier than the molded plastics. Got mine from Ben at NLFX and I think it was a fair amount cheaper.
 
yeah once we decide on everything I am going to hit Ben up, just want to know exactly what we want before hand.

One reason I like this rack is it has 6 spaces under the mixer, which gives us a bit of room if we ever want to add anything later on

I think the original idea of the rack on wheels you chose was the best. Everything would have been self contained and you won't have to lift anything. Microphone and speaker cables could be pre wired even sound card cables from your laptop to mixer. Setup and teardown would be very easy.

Now, not only do you have to lift this case and the other gear but you also have to contend with bringing or requiring a table to setup. Then you have the problem of taking time to hide wires coming out of that case. Your DJ Booth footprint will be much larger. Anyway, it is your deal so do what YOU want not what others want. It is your gig and your money.
 
go to walmart buy a 6 ft folding table for $40.

I highly suggest ditching that flight case and going with a skb shuttle. My hands are always sore after carrying my 2 turntable and mixer that are each in thier own flight case. It sucks and I can't imagine lifting a flight case filled with amps, it would be pure torture lol.

I keep my amps and driverack in a older skb amp rack and in my shuttle i keep my mixer, controller and mic recievers. It takes 2 seconds to connect the audio from my mixer to my driverack and pulg in power. I keep my speaker cables connected at the amp end and just store them in the amp rack between gigs just like Houston suggested, big time saver!

Without the amps in the shuttle its a breeze to lift up and down and the amp rack stays on the floor which is perfect becuause with the amps it pretty heavy.

Also invest in a rock n roller style cart if you do not have one already! you will need it with either option you choose!
 
that heavy flight case is gonna run you $320 but for $300 you can have a 10space on top 6 space on bottom skb shuttle, rock n roller cart and a 6ft folding table AND still have $20 leftover for food/gas!
 
Patrick....I utilize one rack. Everything is pre-wired -- including my external usb hub that houses my two sound cards. I also have an extra laptop power cord that is hard-mounted in the case, so all I have to do is pull the the laptop out, plug the usb's in and the power cord, power up and I'm ready.

And, I also came up with a unique way for a laptop location...without spending an arm & a leg. Utilizing the rack lid, I just flip it and attach it. (Excuse the dirty mixer...I don't even know how it gets so dusty, but it looks like new again after a good cleaning of the equipment last weekend.)

This is what a customer sees when they walk behind the booth. Total width is 6 feet -- 4 foot table plus the 2 foot rack; all wrapped with a facade.

In this photo, you can also see my lighting control box that houses our Data Stream 4 and dmx dongle. Again, all power and usb cords are hard-wired within the box; all I do is set the lappy up, plug the usb and power in, power up and I'm ready to roll.

Wow Randy....were you doing a few gig's in Iraq?? That has to be the dirtiest mixer i've ever seen..Scratchy pot's ever a problem??
