My Google Ad campaign... just about 4 years into it. How it is going.

To many ads? Support ODJT and see no ads!
So how does one become a "sponsored" ad/link at the very top of a keyword search (I.e. Dallas wedding DJ)?

Open an Adwords account, and create ads. They have lots of tutorials.

I would caution against using search ads though. The internet doesn't work the way it used to. Now, somebody searches for a term, and they click on a site -- you want your ad on that site, not in Google's search results.

Those are called content ads.

You want your ads on as many places that you can get them, but not the search results page of Google... ;)

Thanks Rick! I used to advertise on partpop and gigmasters; arethose what you are referring to?

No. Google Adwords, gives you the option to target your ads to specific sites (and also allows you to block ads on specific sites).

You need to find out where you want your ads to appear, and then adjust your targeting.

It takes some time, but once you find out who's calling you, and from where they found you, you can tweak away, and put more emphasis (and money) on that target :)

It's not something you just sit back and watch, you have to be actively involved. Google will place your ads where THEY make the most money, unless you override them ;)

Hey Mango, I just did a quick search for a random blog that might have google ads listed on their page. I think this is what Rick is talking about... Look at the sponsored google listing area.

Wouldn't it make more since to show up in the general google search for "Dallas wedding DJ" than a blog powered by google ads? After my site edits I am now on page 2 for the search of Dallas wedding DJ:D.

Anybody else check my site out for criticisms/recommendations?

Hate to burst your bubble.... but I found my own site on age one in the top few spots.... but it is a false reading. If you search for your site, and then click on it a few times, you start moving up FOR YOU. Not so much for everybody else.

I'll try to find that thread and you can see what I mean.

Thanks Pops! No bubble burst for me, because before my edits I wasn't even on the first 5 pages. I am on a mission now that Greg has told me about Google Places:triwink:
