is "out for delivery" via UPS today. :sqbiggrin:

I want to take a look back and thank the people that helped me make this importatnt business investment.

Fred Wright said;

"Professional business equipment does make good business sense. How many times do I have to say this?"

"No successful business will remain successful and grow by using the cheapest equipment they can find."

"Do people notice the difference? You'd better believe they do. Inferior business equipment produces inferior results. In the DJ's case, results are system tone. It may not matter much at cheap gigs if that's your comfort zone. But if you want to run with the big dogs and get your share of the action, the entry-level stuff has got to go."

"If anyone thinks for one moment that poor tone is gonna fly at upscale engagements, he needs to pull his head outta his ass PDQ."

"What the Dynacord and L1 systems have done is take advantage of modern technology and put good tone in smaller packages. One does not need a huge speaker cabinet to achieve a warm tone no more."

"If a bride hires a DJ and the sound is poor, she's not very likely to be a satisfied customer. An inherent expectation of quality sound tone comes with the engagement booking. Our primary responsibility is to play music, after all. A DJ could play every song correctly in the correct order and do a stellar job on the mic but if the sound is garbage, it's still garbage and the bride ain't gonna be pleased.

Ben and Cap know this. They're not in the business of moving equipment solely for the sake of moving equipment. They're looking out for their customers' best interests. If a DJ company utilizes a system to its full potential, his or her business will grow and see more referrals. Likewise, Ben and Cap will see more sales and referrals."

NLFX Pro Ben said;

"I want VERY successful customers. I do not want every DJ to be my customer, nor do we have the resources to serve every DJ. We want to dedicate our resources to an elite few and help them be successful. We believe that successful customers are the key to OUR success."

"What do you pay your speakers per show? If you had to give them a paycheck or they wouldn't show up, what are they worth to you at a show? I have more specific ways of asking the question, but I think I'll leave it vague because I want to learn from all of you."

"I polled the DJs on this site about a variety of variables. Notably the number of gigs they do per year, what you "pay" your speakers, and a few others. I also polled (non-scientifically I should stress) brides about what they felt they were paying their DJs speakers, both in dollars and percents.

Here's the basic results. On average, DJs said they paid their speakers (or what they allocated per gig towards the amortization of their speakers) $93.20 per night.

Brides, on the other hand, felt that they were paying $318.75 per night for speakers (and amps for passive rigs). Remember, this is a non-scientific polling of a few hundred brides across the country through industry contacts I have. We can only accept that the information may be useful in understanding what they feel that they are getting when they hire a DJ. More interesting was that they felt that 55% of what they were paying for was going towards the sound system. Because this is sure to start a raging debate, why not do your own poll? Just remember, be careful what you ask for.

In either case... let's take the DJ number of $93.20. We found a good "average" of 35 gigs per year based on the "How many gigs thread". Obviously the number varied, and many stated that they do more, some less. The point just gets more powerful as the number gets bigger. Assuming that you do 35 shows per year, and you invested $93.20 per show (as averaged based on the responses I collected) over a 5 year amortization you should have invested $16,310 in your speakers!! An eye opener? Just think what the BRIDES think you spent!

Here's the point. Even if you take the Dynacord D-Lite 3012 at it's "regular" price of $7,800 (and let's not forget that we have a bit of a "deal" on it), which many said was "expensive" it only comes out to $44.57 per gig (35 gigs, 5 year). Now, if you plan on buying a new rig every 5 years, you just became my new best friend! Over 7 years, it drops down to just over $30 per show. That's a THIRD of what DJs told us (on this forum) they spent on their speakers. If you do more than 35 shows a year, do some quick math.

Just some food for thought. Your gear purhcases are an INVESTMENT. How can WE help YOU?"

"Its funny how we at times being in a field which surely would beg for versatility and the ability for open minded thought move forward with the most narrow mind set not seeing anything on either side even deciding that we certainly know the point another is trying to make.
I am missing the fact anyone said the equipment was more important than anything else here. In fact if your paying speakers even 50 dollars per gig its obvious it isnt the most important thing. However like each component, survival and efficiency occurs successfully or unsuccessfully dependant on the weakest link.
Your experience , service and performance can not reach its full potential without proper gear and in order to absorb a comfort zone we wont likely want a system we have to rev to its highest RPM all night. We will want a buffer zone and allow some breathing room. Im going to buy the best sounding most durable speaker system at an acceptable rate."

There are many, many more good quotes I could have used, but these were the ones that resonated with me.

Thanks guys!

Oh and Ben, you finally cracked this nut. :sqwink:

I gotta get to work and open up 7 Dynacord boxes!

Proud to see the serious attempt to present your very best Keith and cant wait to see your setup in action.

You have the box with your cables coming from us today as well Keith... system won't work with out them :sqwink: Now all we have to do is figure out when we want to do that shoot out and I will make my happy little way down to Inidiana :sqbiggrin:

That might be a month or so down the road as I still have to order my second Bose setup.

Everything has arrived intact and they are now in capable hands.

That's right John.

You gotta hear these to believe them.

The reason I got in the picture was to give a perspective on just how compact these things are.

BTW, Michael Doucot has the easy part of the job...these speakers sell themselves. J/K

Thanks again for your technical assistance in my new investment.
