Weddings Most Hated Requested Songs

NO!
I am very aware of not letting my age cloud my judgment, and I always try to look at things from a younger perspective.
(like most DJ's)
Even when the Beatles had multiple songs on the chart at the same time...
there was no way to confuse one song with another!

Or, listen to entire album, start to finish...from an artist like.... Pink Floyd....Michael Jackson...Prince...Bruno Mars...
you'll hear a wide variety of sounds, different tempos, a variety of musical instruments.
I can't imagine enjoying an entire album of Drake songs....
if it weren't for the pauses, you'd never know where one song ends and the next one begins!
That's how I felt about the last Post Malone album when he had 7 of the top 20 Hot 100 spots .. the music is formulaic and the singing (OK, mumble rapping) isn't anything special.

Found my most hated thing to date. Last minute wedding in 2 weeks. The bride wants me to play ONLY her playlist from her ipod. Oh well. Told them they would be better off just renting my equipment at that point.

uuughhhhh....thats a bummer

i guess thats the world we live in now... the symbiotic relationship between a person and their ipod fools them into believing their guests will share in their personal taste.... they may learn a valuable lesson ...that Ricky Martin B side that u love to stairmaster to will make 90% of the room sit and stare from their table....and think the dj is wack

i would take the money.... set up the sound/lighting....hit play ....and hide...lol

It will certainly happen if you submit to/allow/permit/surrender to that demand.

yea I don't want my name associated with this one. The groom apparently hates "music" and wants nothing played at all.

Yea rental only. I'll have somebody there to keep an eye on my equipment. I can't have my name associated with this, even though she has "the best wedding playlist ever." I'll nope out of this...

But he is wearing jeans and work boots to the wedding. B asked me if I can match lighting to his jeans....

American Pie is also one of the songs I don't care to play, a real good vibe killer. Another is Bohemian Rhapsody, both just stupid sing a long dragging songs. A couple others I don't get excited about playing are Proud Mary and Joy To The World, (not the Christmas song)

I will happily play Unchained Melody, Wonderful Tonight, And Lady In Red is actually one I use often to dedicate to any ladies wearing red. Mostly will find this at Holiday parties.

Anymore I'll play Cha Cha Slide, Cupid shuffle and Electric Slide ONLY if requested.

I agree with the Drake comments. He is popular and a great choice at many events, but I too, can't tell much differences in his songs.

The only song I refuse to play is You Spin Me Round by Dead or Alive I don't and wont ever have it in my library. From the first time I heard it I hated that song. Fortunately it's never requested

I certainly am willing to play those tunes for couples that want them. And I get that they were big in their time... but the sound of those songs just bothers my ears.

Maybe it's an age thing and the fact that you pretty much grew up in the business with MP3 but listening to Lady in Red on CD or Vinyl it has to be one of the best sounding recorded songs of all time at least to my ears anyway

Ok then....substitute "Lady In Red" with another ballad - one of my favorites - "Something In Red" by Lorrie Morgan.

I will always play her if asked but Lorrie Morgan is like nails on a chalkboard to me. Michael Bolton is the same. I always felt the two of them were talented I just think they are singing the wrong music or something

I have an anniversary party on Saturday...
so once again I am checking Billboard.com to see what new songs I don't have.
AND AGAIN....
It's all slow, non-danceable rap...with a few exceptions (very few).

Still can't figure out how Drake gets a dozen songs on the Top 40.
I honestly can't tell them apart.

If I could find a way to do it and remain in business I would never play a Drake song again.

I play it occasionally (for the 50-60 year olds) .. I don't mind it.
