Weddings Most Hated Requested Songs

I truly hate all three of those songs. And I can't figure out why any of them were ever popular.

Because you're too young to be there when they were hits.
It's a delicate balance of your age at the time, the mood of the country, and the pop culture.
I could say the same thing about Disco.
Think about it, Ross.
"What Did The Fox Say" was quite popular....and neither of us can figure THAT out.
The three songs you mention have been around for a long time....
they have to have some value to last his long.

I certainly am willing to play those tunes for couples that want them. And I get that they were big in their time... but the sound of those songs just bothers my ears.

There are a lot of great slow dances (of all eras) that I can reach for without hitting the three I mentioned and keep guests very happy.

With the internet and viral video being what it is... there's a ton of flash in the pan stuff now. Rebecca Black, Peanut Butter Jelly Time, Harlem Shake, Gangham Style... only a few can still get play, but for the right crowd you can strike gold. All ridiculous songs.

Believe me, if I never played (or heard) Lady In Red again...I would NOT be upset.
I, too, only play it when requested.

Ok then....substitute "Lady In Red" with another ballad - one of my favorites - "Something In Red" by Lorrie Morgan.

Oohhh...that one gives me goosies...:djsmug:

That song, or that singer?

Lorrie is a hottie. Years ago, she lived with an old Opry act named Johnny Russell.

One night they were getting back off a show run, about 3am and Lorrie was there, waiting to pick John up. One of the fellas asked, "John, how does a fat guy like you get a hot babe like that?" John just grins and tells them "You gotta be willing to do some of this." and then he flicks his tongue at them.

All i know is....ive had Lady in Red stuck in my head for days now...

I have an anniversary party on Saturday...
so once again I am checking Billboard.com to see what new songs I don't have.
AND AGAIN....
It's all slow, non-danceable rap...with a few exceptions (very few).

Still can't figure out how Drake gets a dozen songs on the Top 40.
I honestly can't tell them apart.

that baffles me as well... everyone seems to make fun of him....but he stays on the charts....it used to be by the time we were making fun of an entertainer it ended their career....right said fred...vanilla ice... etc....

It have trouble keeping it to 1-2 drake songs PER HOUR at club gigs... it's crazy how many songs he has that people go nuts to.

Me too! Mike, are we showing our age?? :tired:

NO!
I am very aware of not letting my age cloud my judgment, and I always try to look at things from a younger perspective.
(like most DJ's)
Even when the Beatles had multiple songs on the chart at the same time...
there was no way to confuse one song with another!

Or, listen to entire album, start to finish...from an artist like.... Pink Floyd....Michael Jackson...Prince...Bruno Mars...
you'll hear a wide variety of sounds, different tempos, a variety of musical instruments.
I can't imagine enjoying an entire album of Drake songs....
if it weren't for the pauses, you'd never know where one song ends and the next one begins!
