One thing that would help is if there was an Association near by that was interested in sponcering one.... plus we'd need at least 100 attendies or more to even have a chance at a bid.

This may be difficult because as far as I can tell there are no chapters of ADJA or NAME even in Indiana at all.

Wouldn't be difficult at all! We would help to support it & sponsor it just like we are the rest of the Tour. Our chapters are host to all but 2 of the stops.

We would love to develop a local group there. All it takes is folks that want to have a chapter or have a stop bad enough to be willing to step up & work with NLFX & ADJA to make it happen.

We would definitely support it! So how do we get it done?

For starters how big of an area would be needed in order to support the venders?

As it happens I work in the hotel business and we have meeting space that can accomodate up to 150 people. Plus I know I could work some sort of rooms deal too.

You would potentially need a room for 200. That would give space for the vendor set ups as well as say 100+ chairs for attendees. I would make my radius for the event about 100 miles max. Also figure that half of those that sign up will be a no show. So to get 100 you'll need about 200 pre reg.

The meeting space is paid for by the local group. In the case of the majority of stops that was our local chapters. ADJA also paid to support the tour nationally as a whole. To be honest, if you charge people to attend you probably wouldn't get very many based upon my experience. You also need to know that there is a LOT of work to be done on the local level.

However if your really interested, we should talk and start to outline a budget. Honestly I think it is doubtful for this year as a MB tour stop.

The ADJA would consider hosting such an event for one night provided the costs & arrangments could come together. Give me a call in the office in the AM to discuss your ideas.

BTW- NAME doesn't really have any local chapters to speak of. That is why ADJA was host to so many.

Even if MB didn't do it, there would be a chance ADJA could do it this year maybe if everything worked out right.

You're on the right track. Touch base with Drax. Having just wrapped up week 2 of the MB Tour (sitting in the Charlotte airport right now in fact) I can tell you that without the local organizational support, this thing wouldn't fly. Those folks have done so much to make these events successful it is incredible. It's also interesting to see the different methods used by different local groups and to experience the different atmosphere from one city to another. I know a lot of folks in Indiana, and I think it would be a lot of fun... as long as Alan doesn't push me out of another airplane. LOL.

So that is how Alan got busted up!

Ben (and Drax?):

I'll see you both(? I hope) starting a week from Sunday, starting in San Diego. Is there anything I can do to assist you when you get to the Sunshine state?
