Mixing and splicing songs together?

Hey guys,
I have been wanting to buy a program that can do the same thing. The only difference with me is i also want the ability to record and edit vocals (for first dance intro's at weddings, where the bride has a personal message to the groom mixed into their first dance). So which program is the "best" for all of the above including extending and remixing songs? The one everyone has told me that is good is Adobe Audition, but i am also not very computer savvy.

Thats what I will be doing also.......for someone who does not do weddings, I have 4 scheduled for the summer. just from family and friends.....

I've been running the trial programs for Sound Forge Studio, Sound Forge 9.0, and Adobe Audition 3.0....at this point I'm leaning towards Adobe Audition 3.0. It's expensive $350......but it's far more comprehensive and detailed than the other two.........also there is a tutorial available online that supposedly is well done, $50.....

it is going to take some time to become proficient with this program, but it will do all I need to do in the mixing and live sound editing I plan on doing this summer.......

keep us posted and let us hear some smaples Jim Im truly interested in this. Having devoted my seminar activity mostly to Bens Academy I missed one seminar on mixing editing etc mp3 files that I would love to get any notes on. Did anyone go to that seminar?

My computer for music production and Remixes:
Intel Core duo 2.0
2x250GB hard drive plus 750GB externall hard drive only with loops and sounds
Digidesign 001 sound card
AKG studio mic
Softwere:
Cubase 4 as prime and only audio softwere and Rewire too:Reason 3.0,Fruityloops 7.0 and Ableton Live 6.0(Its audio prog. too but in Cubase its much easyer too work)

I slice the song in Cubase and remove the music.Than make a new arangment mostly in Reason and some sounds comes out from Fruityloops and Ableton Live.Thats the way i do remixes.
And not too forget:
M-audio Oxygen V 2 keyboards with 25 and 61 keys.

Well I have not been on much lately.........I have been spending 10 - 14 hours a day playing with the "Adobe Audition"...3.0 What a program.

As some of you know I have an extensive library of older music, and some (most) I will not play because of the Pop, Crackles, Hiss...You name it; but now I have made some incredible mixes of some of the older files, including some old country music ....ie.....Faron Young, Webb Pierce, Hank Sr., Slim Whitman, Jim Reeves, Ernest Tubbs...and I can go on and on...what a God send this program is, and I still don't know 1/10th of what it can do.......??

The clarity and separation on the tracks is exceptional....

It is expensive...right around $350...their is a tutorial on E-Bay for $44...from a guy who says He can teach you enough in 4 Hours, to master a good amount of the program....

I'm Sold...??

Good Deal Jim glad your having a go and figuring it out. Keep us posted I guess theres hopes for me to figure out how to make remixes.

Well it takes just playing with it, there is an on board help index; but time is the essential ingredient..... and lots of it....!!
