I'm in for that date and wherever we meet is decided, I'm cool with whatever brings us all together.. :)

Keep the ideas flowing...

How many are planning on showing up?

I'd like to roll in on Friday afternoon/night, stay until Sunday afternoon.

I figure by then, ya'll will be sick of me.......:sqeek::sqwink:

I have questions!!!
Jillian's looks cool, but what about overnight accommodations for those of us driving a ways? If Ben and Kat are coming with toys (I wanna know...who's bringing the batteries? :sqembarrassed:) and Val's bringing the semi, are we going to set up some kind of conference room? We don't want to cram into somebody's room or stand in the lobby, do we?

From the meeting planning I've done over the years (and you hotel guys correct me if I'm wrong) if we all stay at the same place, shouldn't we be able to get a cheap/comp room to use for the day?

As the non-DJ person in the house, I'm happy to either talk shop with the guys or plan something with the other spouses once we know who's coming and how many.

A little food for thought. :sqwink:

Heck, I thought you'd take care of the small details. :sqwink: :sqlaugh:

I was looking at Jillian's a little closer. I have no idea what the cost would be, but it appears you can get a banquet area (possibly with a pool table) where we could all hang out together, eat and mingle.

Also, the Melting Pot is only about 25 minutes away from this location. I wonder what else is around Jillians? Or, the Melting Pot?

Or, there may be somewhere else that's even better.

Speaking as a hotel manager here..... in most cases they wont comp a room but, most hotels consider group rates on rooms when 10 or more are booked... they may also, depending on meeting space, offer up some sort of discount when booking a meeting room in conjunction with sleeping rooms.

I could contact a few hotels around the Jillian resturant and see what they can offer us...

I have questions!!!

Suggestion for having this in West Lafayette:

Jillian's looks cool, but what about overnight accommodations for those of us driving a ways?

The Purdue Union Club Hotel has a $99/night rate that weekend. It's the beginning of Spring Break, so it'll be quieter as far as students are concerned.

If Ben and Kat are coming with toys (I wanna know...who's bringing the batteries? :sqembarrassed:) and Val's bringing the semi, are we going to set up some kind of conference room? We don't want to cram into somebody's room or stand in the lobby, do we?

The J Mac says that he can get a large lecture hall or conference room/ballroom on Purdue's campus for free or darn close, and that he can work out logistics for getting a semi near there.

From the meeting planning I've done over the years (and you hotel guys correct me if I'm wrong) if we all stay at the same place, shouldn't we be able to get a cheap/comp room to use for the day?

I'll bet that's worth looking into. :)

Here's a thought: http://www.spasalon.com/christinaspa/
It's the best in the area. :)

If having it up here in West Lafayette becomes an option, we just might buy a round of drinks for everyone. :sqwink:

Ducky,

I have no problems with Lafayette. What other types of places do they have for something 'after dark'? A good place to eat? Could you round up some more info?

My wife would love the spa treatment.

Well Randy, I can add to this list...

a local brewery, Lafayette Brewing Company, has live entertainment every weekend, they don't have their spring schedule out yet...http://www.lafayettebrewingco.com/

There's numerous bars, which won't be that crowded since that weekend starts spring break...http://www.harryschocolateshop.com/

For late nght munchies...http://www.triplexxxfamilyrestaurant.com/index.html

There are 2 bowling alleys in Lafayette and 1 bowling alley and pool hall located in Purdue's Union as well.

That's a start, Ducky may have some other thoughts.

There are a lot of bars on Purdue's campus and just over the bridge in downtown Lafayette. They won't be as crowded because it's Spring Break. Notable bars on the West side include the Neon Cactus(sound on link), the Where Else?, and Harry's Chocolate Shop. There is a Buffalo Wild Wings sports bar next to the Neon Cactus and both are across the lot from a movie theater. All of these places are non-smoking indoors.

Across the bridge in Lafayette is Chumley's Pub (smoking allowed), which boasts over 50 beers on tap, and the Lafayette Brewing Company(non-smoking).

The Lafayette Brewing Company and Buffalo Wild Wings are great places to eat. Some of the best pizza in town is at the Boiler Market. (I think they have beer there, too.) There are also some good chain restaurants in the area: Applebee's, Logan's Roadhouse (excellent steak!), Pizza Hut, Spageddies, and others. Finally, there is a decent strip bar in Lafayette called Chances Are, for those who are interested.

As for other stuff to do, Jon says that there are 2 bowling alleys in Lafayette, and I know there is bowling and pool at the Purdue Memorial Union.

EDIT: There is also mini-golf. I don't know if the decent course will be open yet, but we could look into an indoor, glow-in-the-dark course that's on the south side.

All sound great. My only concern is having one location where we could do a variety of things, without spending alot of time driving to different locations. If I could get a tour of the campus, that would be an added bonus and push my vote your way. ;)

Campus tours...no problem...during my time here, I was one of the student leaders for our freshmen orientation program. For the most part everything is within walking distance or a short car trip (not even 5 minutes) from campus.

I'm leaning towards French Lick since it seems to have anything anyone would want in one location.

I'll do whatever the group wants, but that would be my vote.

My dad and neice were Purdue grads and I'm very familiar with the campus/city.

I guess I'd like to do something different.
