Dear Sirs,
I am writing to make a simple yet important request on behalf of the disc jockey industry. This issue is important to us as a whole and I'd appreciate it if you folks would give us conference.
The issue is rap. Releases that contain rap are clearing our dance floors. We can have a good dance floor going, yet as soon as the rap comes through the sound system, our audiences will leave.
This has been an ongoing issue with new releases for several years and it needs to be addressed. These are the people who are signing our paychecks. We need to keep them happy. Not every audience is younger than seventeen years of age. The majority of our paying clientele is over the age of twenty. The majority of our audiences is over thirty. They do not care for rap. If a song contains rap we cannot play it. It's a business decision and as simple as that.
Disc jockey companies are in the business of promoting new releases. Yet we cannot promote releases that our clientele and audiences don't appreciate.
I understand that rap sells and am not asking that you delete it entirely. All I am asking is that the music industry offer to disc jockeys new releases that do not contain rap. As it currently stands, we are not offered a choice. We are dire need of one.
Thank you for your attention to this matter. It is sincerely appreciated.
Warmest regards,
Fred Stewart, proprietor.
