Making a playlist question

I don't find it intrusive .. I use it for almost all music management (including ripping). For me the best tool, as my backups are iPads or iPhone.

Since I would only need enough tracks for a four hour event, I don't mind this method.

If that's the case, after I create the playlist in I Tunes, I can change the track order before I hook up the I Pod to the software? And then it will play in that order playing it using the I Pod?
 
Why not just use a laptop, set it so the cover close won't turn it off, start the playlist. close the cover and place it out of the way .. I've done that many time when I need granular control over playback.

Also depends on the iDevice .. some older ones you had to set as "Manage Music Manually" in order to have the playlists play in desired order, rather than alphabetical order.

Theoretically[emoji1]... I say that because I don't own an iPod and when I use iTunes, it's on Window PC. Would be easy to try it with a short playlist, though.
