Jeez, last week I told you to forget online advertising for a while and focus on meeting the types of people that you want to work for. Today you're asking what's better than Wedplan.
I'll tell you what - just send me $600, and for a year I won't get you any new business, either.
I'll send you $600.00 and then sue you for $6,000.00 when what you promised me you could do for me doesn't work.
I see now what i really should have made the focus of this thread. It should have been about how most of the potential clients on Wedplan are now posting from the generated price listing of $500.00-$750.00. And each price listing goes up by $250.00 till it reaches $2,500 and over.
My issue is that with such a low pricing that most potential clients are posting it causes a few problems in trying to sell our services. Let me explain. Some leads that come in are from out of state. Some are nice enough to post a phone number to call them. So when you try to contact them some numbers don't work. The ones that do will want to know where you're located. Once they find out it's in East Orange, NJ a lot will tell you they were looking for someone closer. I'll try to convince them the distance is not an issue. They won't buy that.
What that really is telling me that they weren't really willing to spend too much money. With such a price listing a lot of those potential clients want to stay as close to $500.00 as possible. So now the question becomes is it really worth it to do the wedding considering the price of gas. I just filled up the tank on the van Wed., it had about a half a tank of gas and it cost me $52.00. And that was at the cheapest gas station i know for the gas i burn.
It would be nice to get the work but financially is it really worth it. That doesn't leave for a lot of profit to do the wedding. So now if i try to talk them into as close as i can to spending $750.00 a lot of them will tell you they really don't want to spend that much. If they do they will expect you to bring the horse with the wagon to the wedding. That meaning they will exp0ect so much from you but don't want to pay what it's really worth for you to provide those services. Some will think what's the big deal. We're willing to pay a DJ $500.00 for a few hours of work. They will compare what we do to their day job and figure they wish they could make $500.00 a day for a few hours of work.
Some just don't realize all the hard work and dedication it has taken to be the great entertainment that we are today. In other words some potential clients see what we do as something that can'[t be that hard to do. Especially with us now using a computer to DJ with. They just see what we do as being a easy fun job and why should we spend a heap of money on a DJ for their wedding. So some days it gets to be a challenge dealing with such potential clients.
To end my part for now i'll say this. I don't mind in some cases accepting such a wedding to be able to get to take some very nice pictures and video to add to our website. So some days i don't mind settling just so i can get some nice pictures and video which is what we need more of to show off to potential clients.
