Look like it's time to get a new laptop.

Mix .. If you don't really need a new laptop to DJ with, why not let your "partner" contribute and pick up a laptop for streaming. I don't ever hear of him actually spending money in this "partnership" ...

Still using a windows 7 Dell I bought used a few years ago for $150. I actually took a class in the early '90s called System Analysis. Can you believe it?

I just helped my nephew pick out a lappy since he got his stimulus $. All he had was an ancient XP model I gave him. Anyway, I got him to talk about how much power, speed, storage he really needed - and got him to spend about half of what he was planning to spend.

I really don't want to sound condescending but the guy has the very basic grasp of Windows switching him to a Apple OS would be just short or cruel

I mean... I didn't think he was going to take the suggestion and actually do it. He doesn't take any other suggestions.

But the main things I'd be looking for are lots of memory, and as big of an SSD drive as he can afford.

Don't forget TerraByte networking ...

Do you know the definition of ego? We say easing God out. Not here. I am a firm believer in God.
God's not on Facebook.
The good news is he's not on Yelp! either. Given how badly the last visit to earth turned out, I think we dodged a really negative review.

From a user standpoint, if he can use Windows, he can use Apple - it's a GUI. As a benefit, it would be a little harder for him to cause his own issues on an Apple. Regardless, he's not in business anymore so neither is a benefit.

Steve had a REALLY good point. The partner, who may still be in business (and does use Mix's equipment), should buy any and all new equipment.

I just bought a laptop today from Micro Center. It's a Lenovo IdeaPad 5 grey. It has 8 gigs of ram, 512 HD space, i5 processor, Intel UHD Graphics and DDR4-3200. Everything with taxes $619.85. Just plugged it up but haven't put it online yet. Maybe later. So I'm happy. That's my birthday present to me. I learned to do that so if nobody gets me anything I'm good. Obviously nothing is on it right now. Got to install Firefox later on. Windows 10 of course. They have an updated version of Windows 10 but wait as it just came out. It's best to wait for a while so they can get the bugs out before upgrading.
