Look like it's time to get a new laptop.

I have an old HP laptop that I was using to do Facebook live. That's my backup laptop. It has VDJ 7 on it. That laptop is at least 8 years old. I bought that laptop when I first became a computer DJ. The issue with the live show is buffering and it saying at some point there's an issue with showing the video.

So I was thinking the problem is with this old laptop. When I bought it I paid $500. So if and when I get a new one it will be when I get the stimulus money. My partner bought some used from a place in Saddle Brook, NJ. They work and are alright. A purchase like this I like buying something brand new. What would you suggest for a laptop between $400-600 and no HP?

What you're describing doesn't necessarily mean the laptop is bad it could be an internet problem and it could be it isn't a good machine for video...You don't normally show video when you DJ and a DJ machine shouldn't be on the internet either.

That being said if you really need to spend the money this one comes in just under $600 Canadian so you should be able to pick it up around $500 American...I didn't research it very close I looked at the price and basic specs

your problem is probably internet connection... but by all means go ahead and buy a new laptop

He ordered that new "TerraByte" connection ...

That was a good rule to follow 10 years ago, when we received the newest songs on a CD that came in the mail and before everybody had access to every song in the world in their pocket. I suppose it's still reasonable advice now, but it's also impractical.

How long before we close this thread??

It's never too late.

Yeah I'm kind of talking about Torrent sites and Facebook, email, etc. Obviously for convenience you would go online to get your music. I actually download most of my music on my desktop and transfer it

I stopped using my desktop machine when I bought my latest DJ laptop... it's more powerful than my desktop and a whole lot easier to work from (my desktop machine was in my basement, and I got tired of working down there). There's no need for Torrent sites anymore. Facebook is safe (and a waste of time) and I'm savvy enough not to download email attachments that I don't recognize. My main DJ laptop is online almost 24/7 EXCEPT when I'm at a gig. My backup laptop barely gets used and almost never goes online... maybe once a month for driver updates, or at an event if there's a song I need and don't have. I'll download the song to the backup PC and transfer it via flash drive to my main machine (or just play it off of the backup).

Facebook and Email aren't as safe as you believe but that's a debate for another time I'm thinking more along the lines of what Mix would do. The guy has the impulse control of a squirrel on acid

That's being generous to the squirrel .. and the acid ...

I can't lie. I'm a recovering addict so an addict can never get enough. Just have to prioritize things. Some things no matter how bad I want it has to wait. I already said I was looking to spend $500-600 on a laptop. I was looking on Micro Centers website and came across a few interesting choices. Some with a i5 processor. That sounds great. I was told years ago to stay away from HP and I agree. A lot of their stuff is not being made the way they used to. Much better quality back in the day. I don't know if they were bought out and the company just kept the name. Just like Gibson bought out Cerwin Vega. It's not the quality like it was many years ago.

Mix, how many days have you been clean?
Start working the steps. You are full of BS
What BS? Don't you have things that you want? Now sometimes it's about priorities. Just because I want something doesn't mean I need it and in some cases I can't afford it. So I find myself either sacrificing for what I want or leave it alone till I can afford it.
