Let’s start a list of things “most” DJ’s don’t do.

1. Play private parties where people charge a fee to attend
2. Repeatedly post the same question multiple times on a popular DJ forum
Umm. . .

1. People buy tickets to "Galas" both large and small. They buy gifts for the wedding couple, anniversaries, birthdays, and retirements. Students buy tickets to the dance, homecoming, and prom. Employees are generally considered to have "earned" the Holiday dinner event, and in cases where it's the employees who organize an event apart from the employer - they generally all pay a fee to attend.

2. "What is everyone using . . ." and "How would you handle . . . . are two of the most widely repeated questions and it's pretty uniform across users.

But, I will offer this one that I think is probably widely verifiable for all but the "bedroom DJs:"

Most DJs don't spin naked.

There you go with your mess! I don't anything about a client charging people to attend a private event. I do know promoters who will charge for people to attend an event they are promoting. That's how they make money to get paid for hosting the event.

Forget what they have posted in the past.
Post when they have been hitting the sauce a little too hard. Know more about other DJ gigs than their own.

Those are promoters not DJ’s
They are both. They can DJ as well as they built things up to promote successful events. They have also been asked to come and play at large festivals.

I keep telling you to stop assuming things you know nothing about.

One of my friends is the headliner cruise in 2025 and it's not his first one. It's a week long cruise. There are other famous DJs in this area that have been on the bill to DJ for these cruises.

Before you ask why I'm not one of the DJs playing on these cruises I'm not that famous and I'll leave it at that.

You alway know a lot of people who have done thing but fail to learn anything from them, I think you know of them you don’t really know them or you would spend as much time as possible learning from them how to be successful

I have been thinking the same thing.
A lot of make believe friends, partners & girl friends. Never know if it is real or made up. All I can do is pray for the man.

Site visits ahead of the event.

Or are we going for wrong-answers-only...???

For me it depends on how far the venue is. I live in East Orange, NJ. If an event is say 100 miles away for example I would look online to get an idea of what a venue looks like. Now that depends on if they have pictures online for someone to see. Some venues don't have pictures you can see to get an idea of what a venue is like.

Believe that the way THEY do things is the only correct way to it.
Think that the price they charge should apply to every other area in the country.
Assume that DJ's who only work part time are not professional.
