All comes back to one thing. You either want to make some money or make no money. If you do the job yourself and ithout anyone else right now on a Sat night for you 250.00 is a good price ebcause otherwise you are getting paid 0. Now if you did a few jobs and people saw you and liked you and if they were having an event you could then raise your price for that person and so on. Instead you just think the people wanting to spend big bucks are going to just call you out of the blue and book you. THAT IS NEVER GOING TO HAPPEN.

As for the bar gig idea. Another thing that will not happen. Bars sell booze which is how they make their money. They do not want 50 - 60 year olds on a sunday night taking up space and not spending alot of money so they can listen to a DJ who has this fantasy of going back to his high school days because he cannot play new music because he is afraid of the "thugs". FYI those backyard parties you do well a "Thug" could show up at anyone of them and cause the same problems, so I am not sure where you head is but it is not on this planet.
It is on this planet and I don't know where you're from but people in their 50's and 60's come out to listen to classic music. If anything it would be people in their 40's on up.

Now you mentioned that they don't spend money. They will spend money if they are having a good time, the place they feel is safe and they like the DJ. Young ones might spend money too sometimes but normally with them you need to have security when they are in a place. It's not that I can't play new stuff as you put it. I don't care to. Especially in a place and all you get to play is this new stuff all night long. That usually brings on trouble after a while. There needs to be a mixture like they do on Saturday's with the spot in Orange. The DJ who plays there regularly will play some of today's hip hop and r & b. Then after a time he will switch up. That's the safe way of doing things.

Trust me I've seen places that looked to chase after the young ones fast money and catering to them all night long. A lot of those places are closed down as of right now. One reason is because some of the owners didn't care who came in the place so long as the place made money. Also playing that type of music all night long will eventually have the crowd wanting the DJ to the hard core stuff because they have gotten bored with the clean stuff. That in return brings out the animal in them along with them being drunk in the bar. That normally then will have a fight break out in the place with the customers tearing the place up. That then will cost the owner money to fix up the place.

Then if enough of this keeps happening in a certain place the police will get tired of having to come there and give them a ticket or several tickets for a big fine.

The fines can be so big that the owner can't afford to pay it and thus the bar is shut down. Which the police know this is what is going to happen when they do this. I just find an older crowd is more respectful and you normally don't have to deal with them keep bugging you while you're trying to do your job. Especially when they know that you know what you're doing. Tust me Jimmy I've seen such things happen too many times over the years.

That's one of the reasons I like playing in that bar in Orange, NJ. They normally have a crowd that comes there so I don't have to worry about trying to get a crowd to come there. Sometimes I'll post it on FB when I'm going to be playing there and the type of music I'll be playing that night. I'll do this just to see what extra people I can get to come. Now when I'm finished playing there they are glad I was the DJ that night.

So this bar has a crowd already, they don't really need you there, it would appear you are just an added expense. the crowd is there whether or not you are.
People come out to this bar because they like the entertainment that is there. They have karaoke on Wed. Thursday is classic soul with my friend Jay Jay the DJ and he plays there on Fridays playing house music mainly. Saturday's is with Craig mixing it up with hip hop and r & b, house music and reggae. On certain Sundays during the month they have live jazz from 7-11pm.

Long Beach Island. Down in Holegate, a ton of money can be made. They usually have bands, but they sometimes have DJs during the day.

All rich folks with their summer 2 million dollar beach retreats. I spent many weekends each summer for about 5 years at my buddies (and yes, they have a maid). Pretty cool place, with lots of bars around.

If you can get a foot hold in there (you need to know somebody, it's mostly mob territory).

They're still rebuilding around Long Beach from Sandy, so the pickings will be slim for a while.

Rick good call. Worked on LBI for most of the 90's as a resident DJ at one of the clubs there. Damm they did pay well back then.

I'm still trying to get The Farm back in shape since Sandy. We took a big hit. Then all the storms rolled during the winter and it's been raining for a couple months, almost every day.

Because of the water issues here, I need at least 3 days of drying time to do anything out back and front. So I'm staying inside, drinking beer, and teasing Bob. At this point. I might just wait till fall...

Mix .. It appears your friends are incompetent at planning things .. another reason to dissolve the partnership and forge your own path. Find some reliable help to move the equipment if needed, but start trying to figure out your own way.

And the business plan starts making more and more sense.

what Business Plan, he hasnt had one and he NEVER will have one.................................................
he is too lazy to go and do a thing and expect everyone else to do it for him

Mix, you can't claim a business plan, when you don't have one.

as I said above he will NEVER get one........

all we here is this and complaints about what he might have done
