I received an email this morning from Promo Only stating DJs should NOT upgrade to Catalina for 2 reasons .. one, PO needs Adobe Air for their Pool service and there is an issue with the current release. And 2, apparently Apple took out the ability for iTunes to share it's XML files with other apps which will prevennt those that use it to manage music from having it being read in Serato/Traktor/VDJ/etc.

Letter:

Attention Mac - Apple users

The recent major macOS release: macOS Catalina is not currently compatible with Adobe AIR which is required to run POOL. We anticipate Adobe to release an update of AIR soon, but it is currently incompatible. We suggest you hold off on updating to macOS Catalina until Adobe releases a compatibility update.

Apple has issued a statement recommending DJs not update to macOS Catalina, because unlike macOS Sierra, High Sierra, and Mojave, Catalina has done away with the ability to share your iTunes Library XML with other applications.

You can read the full statement here.

Thank you,

I have heard the same warnings today. Apple Music may still have an xml but it's in a totally different place.

I am pretty sure Itunes is gone, and is now Apple Music.

There must be something in the works for XML related libraries since so many DJs rely on it. I use Meg Seg for dinner, and it also reads the itunes library.

I hope so. This would never have happened under Steve Jobs watch.

I too got that same warning email today from PO.

Of course, Megseg is a OS only program.

I have ZaraRadio that I can use for automation needs, and VDJ has a automation setting too I believe.

I will go back to using itunes, I mean Apple Music :) Honestly, it does a very good job, and if I wasn't so used to Megseg, I wouldn't really care. Megseg gives a few more customizable options in the way it fades between tacks, unless Apple has improved that in the new app.
