I was all over Denon's website but I still can't find out if the MC4000 is Rackmountable?

Anyone have one?

Thanks!

Curious - Why a rack? I have the MC6000MK2 and bought a hard carry case with sliding laptop stand built in. I couldn't imagine using it any other way. I tried the rack mount route and gave it up in short order as being bulky and not ergonomic enough for my purposes:

Current rig:

It seems that on this page there is one comment that says the MC4000 will most certainly not be rack mountable...

It's 19.9 inches wide, so it won't fit in a rack.

I like the rackmount because I have two wireless mics, a Driverack, a rack panel, etc to also put into the rack.

I have a small 5 or 6U rack that fits my power conditioner, Dbx GoRack and remote mic boxes as well (shown in the video link I posted). The MC4000 or MC6000 is a controller that should be oriented in a tabletop configuration with laptop over top on a sliding or fixed platform directly in front of the operator. I have tried controllers oriented in gator rack boxes that have openings on top and the side. Simply awkward to use. I seriously think you would be better served getting an integrated sliding laptop tray road case for the controller instead of rack ears (since the controller is too wide for rack ears anyway)....

I believe the MC6000mkII is the only rack mountable Denon controller/mixer.

Seriously?

Been using the 6000 and 6000 MKII for YEARS rackmounted and it is completely comfortable.

For the 6000 the only thing is you need a rack that has a removable front panel (like the one below) to access the front controls .. unfortunately, my SKB case does not. I have no issue with a the glider case it's in, but it's nice to have everything all cabled (wireless mics, router, etc.) in one rack and I will probably switch my Denon to something similar to the below pic (maybe with 4RU in front for a 2U drawer and my Denon CD.

Yes, that is similar to what I use Steve, except mine has a laptop slider on top. (All pre-wired)

The convenience of having everything already hooked up is fantastic. With a glide case, you need to hookup mics, processing, etc.

Why, they don't make a glide case with multiple rack spaces, I will never know. I know they make them with one...

I saw one once that did .. there was a 1RU directly under the controller to mount a wireless mic or 2 (similar to how some have a slideout keyboard tray). I forget which one. My Denon glider case has the room under it to put my wireless mic receiver, but I would have to velcro it and figure out where to mount the antennae.

Exactly. One rack space won't work for me. I am not about to bring a second case in that everything is mounted in. Would make no sense.

I mentioned it in another thread .. my goal is to get everything into 2 racks .. a small one (glider or slant top) that have the minimum necessary pieces .. and a taller rolling rack (proabably 10-12RU) to hold the rest. This way the smaller setup can be used for most .. the smaller setup on top of the rack would be a pedestal for cramped quarters .. and the roller could go under a table if needed for larger events.

I need the second rack for some of my karaoke gear (mixer, backup CDG player) and for general audio gear (DriveRack, Sabine feedback reducer, IEM transmitter for remote speakers).

I use a two up case much like the one pictured, it actually become a 3up when you take the panel off the front panael and move the mc6000 up as far as possible, I also used two blank panel above the 6000 and have room for a 17 inch laptop to sit up there

I currently have 2 'cases' - one with the computer/controller and the other with the mixer and a dual disc player. Ultimately, I would like 1 rack that could hold everything prewired - unroll cords, done. Sort of like Hanky's but probably more stuff on it.

I have used several versions of slant cases modified for non-rack mountable gear by crafting my own rack mounts and using either an angle grinder to cut out segments of the case to make it work or using strip metal aluminum and black painted wood to close in the gaps. Here is an example of the latter to fit a Denon DJ Mixer into a gator slant case (go to 59 sec into the following to see that arrangement):

Here is an example of the former where I built a sturdy box under the top part and slid a table top Mackie Mixer when I was too cheap out of principle to buy the stupid expensive rack ears - good thing as I never did like humping around the small or big slant gator boxes I had - too bulky and awkward for my truck) - what was cool about it was I used LED strip lighting to make it real easy to see the controls and made it pop! I think it would be quite easy for someone that is handy to mod one for the MC4000 (go to 1min 51 sec in the fol video):

After trialling all these options, what I have ultimately settled with (as per my earlier vid in this thread) is a stock controller road case made for my MC6000mk2 and laptop with a small 19 inch rack mount gator like case for power supply/conditioners, remote mics, DBX GoRacks X 2 that are all pre-wired with pigtailed cords to merely tap into my MC6000mk2 and speakers - dead simple now with a lot less bulk. I also have velcro strips on top of that case that neatly fits my mackie mixer for multiple mics since the MC6000MK2 is really a piece of crap for mics as I am sure the MC4000 will be as well (everything else about it is great)....

At the end of the day - whatever works for you after a good round of trial and error since there really is no right way of doing things....

My limitation is everything has to fit in my full size crew cab truck with Toneau cover down for inclement weather. The slant cases were always awkward to handle and space hogs for my setups and circumstances. For those with trailers or vans it may not be as big an issue...
