Insurance costs too high had to make some changes.

Coreen and I were looking at how much we were paying for our business insurance and we decided that we were paying way too much. We presently have our insurance through our local agent who handles our car and home insurance needs. Although we try to patronize local businesses when at all possible we decided that we needed to cut some of our business expenses and that this was one way that we could save a significant amount of money.

We decided to upgrade our WeDJ listing to the Silver level and take advantage of their discounted insurance. Even paying for this upgrade and factoring in our new estimated insurance costs, we will save a significant amount of money in the next fiscal year.

We have been riding with WeDj's free listing for quite a while now and have had good luck with referrals. We are hoping that with this upgrade, we will gain even more leads. If not, we are still saving a lot of money on our business insurance. So hopefully, this will turn out to be a win-win situation for us.

Another plus on our upgrading our listing, is that we are now listed above almost every one of our local competition....even the local multi-ops!

I also went in and expanded our area of availability. By doing so we are listed in towns that our competitors are not.

Thanks,

Kirby

Glad you are looking at big pictures, Kirby. It kinda brings a focus into play.

I am looking at two potential markets that don't have 'any' WEDJ Silver or Gold listings.

Being a first mover sometimes is a very smart decision.

Thanks Ken, we are just trying to find ways to make our operation more efficient and profitable.

I've learned a lot over here in ODJT Land and keep gaining more knowledge every day. (Especially, if I can keep myself out of the Arcade!) :sqeek:

Enjoy your posts, keep 'em coming....

Thanks,

Kirby

Being in the industry (insurance)...Your local agents sometimes have very little in the way of markets, especially for the liability insurance we need. WEDJ. ADJA NAME and the like. they have 100's...1000's of members. For them to source insurance, they can go direct to the insurer with promise of lots of premium dollar and few claims and therefore can get the coverage at nominal rates.

I too looked locally for a liability policy...The minimum quote - $500.00 to $750.00. Thanks to JTV I found it for a 1/4 of that at a broker in Ontario that specializes in the "niche" type insurance.

While I like to support local; from a business perspective, ir did not make sense.

You find this same scenario...say ifyou own an antique auto....as well. Jfactor will get familiar with this when he gets the J-mobile on the road. In order to get proper "value" on the car, he will have to go to a specialty broker.....

If anyone has any insurance questions....I can try to help...

I too like to support the local businesses, however business insurance for me here was astronomical. I too went with wedj. My calls have increased and the insurance is better then what was offered from local agents.

Carolyn:

We haven't tallied up the final numbers, but we are going to come out saving a ton of money (possibly 60 - 75%, even factoring in the WeDJ listing) and getting the same if not better coverage!

We also make every effort to patronize our local vendors whenever possible. We have our shirts embroidered locally, business cards, etc. all done with our fellow Chamber of Commerce members and they in turn support us whenever possible.

Our listing in WeDJ is above almost everyone of our local competitors and we also "expanded" our availability into areas that they aren't even listed.

It will be interesting to see how that works out in the new year.

Thanks!

Kirby

Actually, THE largest classic car insurance company in America is based right here in Traverse City. If you've ever watched the Barrett-Jackson auto auction, you've probably seen their name.

Insurance aside - Other then WeDJ - what other services are out there for refferals. I know about WeDJ & Discjockeys.com.... who else is there?

You know I have thought about this we need to have a thread dedicated to sites to advertise on.

OK, back to the regularly scheduled program. Kirby, the response I have been getting from wedj has doubled since I upgraded and it was the same price for me as RV Nuccio and I added another system this year. So same price 4 systems and an add can't beat it.
