he he.........been using a Bose S1 Pro for ceremonies. Great little box but it's a bit weak sometimes. Got a wild hair and ordered an EV Everse 8 today. It's a good bit louder, better bottom end and it has a control app that lets you tweak settings. It also has both 5v and 12v output, which means I can power my wireless mic and not have to have AC run. Kinda stoked as I'll be able to use this for soloact gigs. Yee Haw!

Nice.
have heard good things about the Ev8. Hope it’s what you are looking for.

I’m liking the S1pro+’s. App control. Liking the built in wireless recievers. Gig I did Friday was about 50 people. Connected 2 wirelessly with a transmitter.
had a rough time at first as the signal going from 1 to the other was way too hot…I had to change the channel from mic to line in and it worked perfectly.

pre show I tried dual Bluetooth to see how it worked and it was weak.

ALTO came out with a new battery powered S1 Pro look a like speaker. They claim it has up to a 24 hour batter life on it. Cost is $349. They say it is 200 watts of power output. I don't know how that compared to the Everse or S1 speakers.

It has a USB charge out on it. Lots of Battery powered options to choose from now.

I have the s1 and the everse. No comparison. App control on everse is better and everse is also louder.
I like the look of the Everse.

I Love the S1 Pros for what I use them for. I can't say that I ever max them out on volume though. Most of the time I have the dial set at 11 or 12 o clock, and am no where near pushing it on the mixer for a ceremony. If there is more volume to be had with battery powered small speakers, I can't see myself ever needing it. At that point we are getting into Main Sound System territory.

Mackie has a Thump Go 12 now. Battery powered 12" Speaker. Since it's a thump I am sure it's not the greatest sounding, but it seems like it might be loud enough to be a main speaker if needed. Eventually, there will be battery powered "2000 watt" 128DB+ 12" speakers being produced and marketed.

The most common thing I use it for are ceremonies and cocktail hours. I have some cocktail hours in large rooms holding 300+ people. The s1 would max out very fast and often I'd have to bring the bass down... whereas I never really had an issue with the everse. Yes... cocktail hour is usually lower, but I do get couples who during their cocktail hours are trying to create more of a loungey vibe with songs that have a good bass line to them.

I love the tone of the S1, just not quite enough power sometimes. I played with using it for my soloact but the bottom end was just too weak. Taso, am I correct in assuming that you can stream music via bluetooth at the same time you're using the controller app?

I would hope the app control is better on the everse, seeing that the original S1 doesn’t have app control😁

Don’t know much about the everse, but I’m willing to bet you can do both. The app control will use a low energy(LE) bluetooth connection and the streaming will use a standard one.

I typically only used the S1’s for ceremonies, cocktail hours, retail gigs, and small backyard parties. Never came close to pushing them. Probably because if I though I might, I’d just a larger speaker

The party I did last week i was planning on using a pro16, but it was small crowd, small room, mostly older people and I wanted to try out the dual wireless with the S1 pro+’s. Worked great. Was never over 40% volume.
I could definitely see using that configuration again for the right crowd, or bigger backyard gigs, bigger cocktail hours or whatever. I like having options😁

For soloact stuff, I have to say I really love the format of these little speakers. It's also quite scalable. If I need more juice just stack the MLS1000s (of course they'll need a plugin).

Yes the everse gives out two Bluetooth signals. One for playback, one for app control. I have one device that’s connected via Bluetooth that I leave on top of the speaker and plays the music. Then I walk sprint with my phone making adjustments. It has decent range for control.

The s1 does have or doesn’t have? There is an app for bose it’s just not practical.
Ahh.. I fixed that. Thanks. It should say doesn’t.

The S1 original doesn’t have app control. You can stream on the S1 from the bose app, but you aren’t controlling the channels. The S1 pro+ has full app control for channels, similar to what I’m guessing the ev has.

It certainly isn’t the greatest app I’ve ever seen😁

Follow up. Still completely digging the Everse. Lots of bottom end, lots of volume and the controller app is superb. Comp and Reverbs are both great. I did check out the Alto Busker and it's rated for only 200 watts, where the Everse is 400 watts. While I haven't heard the Alto, I'd venture a guess that it should be on par with the S1. The Everse is pretty obviously miles beyond either the Bose or Alto.

I would have to A/B them in person. I heard the Everse once, and the only thing I could determine was that it had more bottom end thump over the Bose S1 at normal sound volumes, but did not think it had a sonically better sound than the S1. The Everse is worth it for all the newer additional features though.

One thing you lose if you even consider it any kind of an issue is it is slightly taller speaker, and weighs a bit more. So slightly less portable, and if you are transporting the speaker in a tight nook type space in your vehicle, the Everse may not fit as good as the Bose. For example. when I am bringing multiple sound systems, lighting etc. I fit TWO Bose S1 Pros standing up under my dash boand and in front of my front passenger seat in my Chevy Traverse along with my laptops bag behind them on the floor. If the S1s were like 3-4 inches taller, I could not fit two of them in that area. Only 1 could be fit laying down on it's side in that scenario.

I'm sitting here, looking at both the S1 and the Everse. They are virtually identical in terms of size/weight but the EV is MILES better in terms of sound produced. As you guys know by now, I dearly love value but this EV is a superior product, period. It's worth the extra bread, hands down.
