DBX was pretty popular back in the day there were a lot of home systems out there. My parents had a DBX system with an 8 track many moons ago

I had a dbX LP/tape system. It was an external box that processed special dbx encoded discs (or cassette tapes) .. presumably to get better dynamic range and lower noise. I couldn't find more than 3 or 4 albums that were encoded that I actually wanted to own. I think I dumped it a couple years later.
