Punch at the expense of dynamics. For dance music, probably OK .. for those that listen, music sounds more AMish than FMish and occasionally will pump.

I guess for the right audience and the right reasons there is no harm.

I've worked as an engineer and as a musician in recording studio sessions. I'm well aware of problems with tracks that lose their dynamics; usually at the hands of a mastering engineer who thinks their sole purpose is to make it as loud as possible. It's entirely annoying and I can understand why you, and others here think that a compressor is going to ruin their sound. If used correctly, and when using a high-quality unit, it does not do anything more than enhance your system's performance. All I'm looking to do is tame the transients and peaks on the program material. Those transients are what end up burning out our system components prematurely and frankly, I hate having to monitor the limit lights on my cabinets.

Have your used RCF subs with your system? If so why did you not like them?
Honestly I like RCF subs. I bought my Ev subs about 3 years ago and never looked back. The portability and the great sound sold me on them. I have 2 ETX 15sp subs. I sold my Yorkville subs after 7 years, they just got too heavy and it was no longer fun to move them damn things.

DJ JohnThe1...see you are still lurking about the "talk". Been some time since last heard from you. I'm no longer in NC and I sold my Yorkville System and bought RCF EVOX 8's before landing in Florida. Don't miss the weight, but the performance I certainly do.

I have a set of the 735a's and a set of HD32's. Both great boxes for many different applications.

Nice.

I had always heard that RCF sounded good, but I didn't like their boxes aesthetically. Quite frankly, even now that I own an Evox-12 I still think they are a bit ugly. By far the ugliest of the DJ focused line array stuff, but they sound good and seem to impress clients.

I bet putting them over those EV subs sound really good though.

Relative to the current looks of Mix's DSRs, they're beautiful ..

I like the look of the EVOX 8 .. maybe not as sweet as the Bose L1, but IMO, a lot better than any 12 or 15" top out there. Most speakers don't look that great , so the thin ones at least blend in better.

Did you ever have to replace any of the wheels on your big Yorkville cabs? I loved those LS801ps but, like you, I got tired of pushing them around. And it was especially a pain when I had the wheels disintegrate out from under them while trying to load in at a gig.

That's where you need "partners" .. everyone is doing it ..

Hi Art. I'm still here buddy. Not going anywhere, made some good friends here. I'm glad you are still spinning. I considered the evox 8 but I still have love for the box designs. Hope you are loving Florida.

The boxes do take time to get used to the looks. I always like the full grill designs. With so many brands to choose from, I had to stay loyal to RCF. They work hard and just sound so clean. The Italians build a mean speaker.🙂

Yep it happened. One side of the box was limping as I was pushing it in to a venue. I looked and the damn wheel started to strip. It took 6 years though. So not too bad. It was time to part ways with it. Carring that thing up stairs was the worse. It's still the best sub for the money in my opinion. But I don't miss it.🙂

It's HOT! During the June-July-Aug months, one stays inside unless you are a surfer or sun worshiper. Been picking and choosing what gigs I want to quote. Not taking my RCF's out on the beach and won't play in heat unless protected from elements; hence, limits Ceremony functions, but I'm OK with that. Glad you've made lasting friendships. Don't be a stranger.
