I just got a request to do a Bubble Party......

Bobperhaps you can expound on backstage value and the possibilities aka Type of efforts you would consider to make the comment you just made a reality. As much details as you can comfortably share.

I'll try to put some thought into for a later post, Jon.

You know I often take the "proprietary informatiion" plea, but I have good reason.

Aside form my own customers, I have been very fortunate to have done unusually well as a subcontractor and support agent for many other DJs and larger multi-ops doing a variety of work.

Back in the 80's when I was getting out of the clubs I could see the growing number of mobile DJs and knew they would be in need of technical support and resources for those jobs that stretched beyond their own knowledge, expertise, or resources.

That has given me an opportunity to see and learn about the performances of many, many different DJs - of all types, classes, and prices. Including people who are fierce competitors!

(Note: The experience has also taught me that the difference between a $500 and $5000 DJ lies primarily in the wallet of the buyer.)

But I'm always mindful of the loyalty each relationship requires - and I have to be certain that I don't give up someone else's business edge or "next new trick" in the form of advice, or a description of what I do.

But suffices to say - if you have talent, knowledge, or expertise that extends well beyond that of a typical mobile DJ - then you have a product or service that you can actually sell locally and directly to those DJs. But you have to be able to package that service in trust and confidence - otherwise no DJ will take delivery. You have to be willing to let them put their name on it - and not get between them and their clients.

Thanks Bob for that tidbit. Much appreciated. One day when I phone perhaps I get more of a idea who I really need to phone when Im needing a real CARPENTER!!!

Call me in another 2 years. By then I actually hope to be a part time DJ and a full time Carpenter.

Bubble parties Primary Goal can generate $250.00 before Noon and require very little gear.

Adult Primary Goal can generate $500+ after Noon and generally take longer to plan for too.

I get the idea of what proformance is trying to say, but I don't know if this point was made either....

It's not a general rule, it's a very individual result becuase you have to analyze your own personal assets and resources.

You can't compare bubble parties to what someone else is doing unless you too could be doing that same thing.

You can only ask yourself is there a better way for me to get $200 or more out of (not necessarily in) that daypart, and if so what is it?

Plus, if I was running a dance studio I might not even care about the bubble money so much as I would recruitig new dance students. Everyone is going to have their own unique twist on what they do and why they do it.

You're right, bubble parties can get you $200 before noon.

I'm just countering your 2nd point by reminding you that there's alot of adult stuff that happens before noon as well. People live and work all day long - only the Freaks Come Out at Night!

You're not going to book a wedding on Tuesday morning - but there are other things you can apply your skills too.

Jon, It really depends on where your skills lie.

If you want to do the exact same thing that a DJ would do at a typical Saturday evening party - well that could be hard to scrape up on a Monday morning. But, I have spent 8am - 4pm playing backround music at large trade shows, and running commercials on large screen video. That's worth about from $2800 - $5500 /day.

I understand the part-time DJs concentration on Staurdays, but I'm always amazed at how many full time DJs believe the week is 2 days long.

yes and in light of my new found full time efforts I dont mind getting some additional ideas so thanks for sharing Bob. I know I want to make alot more than two days possibly can bring so will go with the 5-7 day a week full time schedule mindset.
