Actually if you look at 5:18, you caan see that those sticks of truss are about 10 feet back holding projectors. it is one long horrifying piece of trussing... they claim a rigger was used but i wonder if he may have been under the influence, if one was used at all?

Wow, you're right! That's what i get for not watching it all the way through the first time. That is definitely not safe. That guy needs to look into the ratings of his truss and if he used someone that claimed to be a " rigger ", then they need to be fired.

While not the brightest way to have the stands with that sort of span, that truss is still rated for about 14 pounds per foot with a uniformly distributed load, and a safe deflection of about 10". Looking at the setup, he really only uses the truss to hold a few Martin Strobes, and the Bed Sheets that are doubling as Video Screens. There's maybe 100 pounds in total weight on that truss, well within it's safety limits.

The reality of this setup is that he clearly knew nothing about the gear he bought, and the sales guy that sold it to him saw him coming a mile away. Probably a rich kid that thought opening a DJ company would be a cool way to meet girls (or guys, no judging). He could of accomplished a better effect with a few Da-Lite Fast Fold screens, and used the savings to buy a better light show. And using a stick of truss to hold up a video projector? A cheap Tripod stand would have done the job at a quarter the cost, and taken up far less room in the truck.

This, kids, is how not to spend your trust fund.
