You're talking to the guy who openly posted about paying someone $20 so they'd tell him where he "could go get" some DJ gear. What in the world makes you think this is for an honest purpose?

We don't know what it was for - well I didn't anyways. Randy / Canute pointed out that this was for CD mixes. I'm not certain I'd be handing out CD's of my mixes tho. Other than what I personally bring to the show (my personality, etc), why do they need me if I gave them my mixes for free?
Anyway, if what I'm reading is correct -- (let's speculate here for a moment)...
If one were to make a mixtape of performing other peoples works (IP), they cannot just make multiple copies and give it away to potential customers.

But that is almost true of any mix .. club mixes, mashups, etc. where does the line end. Lots of folks here remix covered tracks, so is adding an intro/outro, looping, etc and then posting that mix legal ?????
If Ricky's right, I would think it is not legal. Why do you think youtube removes alot of songs from the videos?
No, it's not -- yer still using somebody else's IP, and you're distributing it.
Write your own songs, if you want to give them away...
I'm only looking to make copies of mixed cd's I make. This is to be used when people want to hear me mixing since everyone can't physically be at a gig I'm doing. Also what one client may want another may not. Not that I would invite a potential client to someones private event to check me out.
And just so you'll know I won't be selling cd's. I'll just give them away to promote our business.

It's still distributing Intellectual Property that you do not own. It is illegal. To clarify, illegal is wrong.
Before you distribute your CD, I suggest you contact an IP attorney and get their opinion.
You can't do that (well, you can, but it's not right).
The best advice I would give, is make a video of you doing parts of a gig. Then the music becomes sorta not important, and you the DJ are center stage.
Nobody will bust yer butt for that -- but they will, if you are simply using others IP for promotional purposes.
